Not completely transfer related, but there's talk that Hector Bellerin will be called up the first team when/if Sagna leaves. If so, we can probably rule out any speculation linking us with a right back.

Hector Bellerin is a beast. I don't think Jenks is ready to assume starting duty for an entire season and another key player leaving, even if he's been piss poor recently, is not a welcome omen.

Bellerin is the Right Back version of Alba. Not a great defender but good going forward. I don't think Jenkinson is ready for the RB spot nevermind Hector.

I'd argue that defensively you have been solid this season, with or without Sagna.

The problem has been attacking and creating chances weirdly.

Showing "ambition" doesn't mean ignoring any good youth players that could play a role in the first team.

Jenkinson has already proved he can play a consistent role in the first team. The next step for him is to start playing upwards of 30 games in a season. You're not going to know he's ready until you give him the chance to prove that he is. Bare in mind he's exceeded all our expectations so far.

I'm not saying it's fine to get rid of Sagna, but it's unlikely we'd be able to get a replacement near his level of quality. How many rights backs that good do we have a realistic chance of getting? Pizcszek is maybe one, though he seems pretty content at Dortmund. Debuchy would've been one, but he's gone to Newcastle. Can't think of many more.

Chances are, we'd sign a lesser known player or someone who's good but not really "top quality", like Angel Rangel, or a talented young player, like Carjaval. In which case, I'm sure there'd be people bemoaning our lack of ambition.

Problem has been lack of cover from the midfield. You are not wrong in a way. As much as i love Arteta, he isn't a DM. Doesn't have the personnel to play there or cover for Gibbs when it's needed. Which is why we are too scared to create. We always think about getting countered and play with the hand break on which makes the general play pretty poor.
