Juventus - Chelsea
Might as well start discussing thus now. This game is a must-win, but i think were fully capable of it. Wr have a fully healthy squad, with a rested Pirlo and Vucinic. How do you guys think we should line up? How do you expect Chelsea to approach this?

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
Giovinco was ineffective against Chelsea in London but I think he will start alongside Vucinic.
This is Vucinic's game, for me.
Pirlo has been rested, Marchisio and Vidal seem back to form.
The main thing I wonder is if Lichtsteiner or Isla start. Either are capable, I would love to see Lichtsteiner bounce back after his Inter horror show but I won't complain if Isla starts

I think it's going to be Vucinic and Giovinco or Vucinic and Quagliarella.

When Alessio was asked this weekend why he subbed Quagli and not Gio he said : " Because important game against Chelsea is coming up "

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
In my opinion Quags and Vuci should start and around the 65th-70th min substitute Quags for Gio. His speed will (hopefully) terrorize the chelsea back line. Remember they are missing Terry,Lampard, and I think Cole. I believe in this team, FORZA JUVE!

Going to be the hardest game for Chelsea so far in the CL. If Torres doesn't start im hoping for a draw. N hope no Pirlo magic...

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
Imagine how different it would have been if we didn't fail to get 6 points off of NordsJaelland.
Well if we get 4 points we're through on head 2 head at the very least.
Vucinic and Quag can do the business up front and apart from a massive deflection and a very uncommon wondergoal that was it for Chelsea.

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
Vucinic a doubt for Juventus
Italian champions Juventus may play Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday without Mirko Vucinic.
The Montenegrin international striker has missed the club’s last three games because of firstly injury and then illness.
Vucinic has been struggling to get over a fever which again saw him train separately from the rest of the squad on Sunday.
Boss Antonio Conte will take a closer look at the forward on Monday before deciding whether to select him in the party for the Juventus Stadium tie.
Should he not recover then the Old Lady may begin with a strike pairing of Fabio Quagliarella and Sebastian Giovinco.
Juve need four points from their games against Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk to reach the last 16 of the competition.

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
Alessio demands Juventus hunger
Angelo Alessio has asked his Juventus side to show how desperate they are to reach the last 16 of the Champions League when they face Chelsea on Tuesday.
The Old Lady entertain the reigning champions at the Juventus Stadium in the knowledge that they need four points from their last two games against Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk to qualify from the group.
“We are well aware that this is an in-or-out game,” the touchline boss noted. “If it goes badly then I don’t know whether we’ll still have the chance to qualify.
“We’ll go out on to the pitch with the desire to win that distinguishes us. We have to try to take advantage of the opportunities that we create.
“We respect our opponents, but we will go into the match on a level playing field.
“These types of games prepare themselves and we are just thinking of one game at a time.
“We need to play with the same sort of determination which we showed against Pescara and Nordsjealland.”
Juventus Coach Antonio Conte has few selection issues, although Mirko Vucinic is a doubt because of illness.
“Vucinic didn’t train yesterday and we’ll see how he is today. We’ll then evaluate whether he can play tomorrow or not.
“But Sebastian Giovinco, along with Fabio Quagliarella, was the best player on the pitch against Lazio. We played well and the player put in an excellent display.”
A draw would be a good result on paper for the English club, but Alessio doubts that Roberto Di Matteo’s side will be overly cautious.
“I expect Chelsea, who have important forwards, to attack. They are not a team who sit back and hit you on the counter-attack.
“We are hoping to get help from the fans, Conte has told me that he wants a red-hot atmosphere.”

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
Giovinco just is too far from being clinical.
If Vucinic is a doubt then so is a win to be perfectly honest. Without sounding pessimistic, Vucinic makes our attack flow and can create plenty of chances for himself and whoever he plays with.
If Giovinco doesn't get his act together infront of goal then he'll be gone next summer.

Di Matteo confident of beating Juve
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is confident that his side can beat Juventus when the two meet on Tuesday.
The west London club travel to Turin to face Antonio Conte's men in a crucial Champions League match, but the Italian Coach is expecting his team to come out on top.
“I feel confident we can win,” he told a Press conference. “I have a good team and we know we have to play a great game.
“It is going to be a tough test, but we know Juve will have a lot of pressure on them.
“We just want to create problems for them – attack and defend the way we know we can.”

Juventus squad for Chelsea
Juventus have named their 25-man squad for the Champions League match with Chelsea on Tuesday.
There are no real surprises in the Bianconeri's list, as Antonio Conte has called upon a virtually full squad as the current European champions roll into town.
The game could be a decisive one if the Turin giants are to qualify from Group E. The Old Lady currently sit in third position, one point behind Roberto Di Matteo's men who have seven points.
Squad: Buffon, Storari, Rubinho; Lucio, Chiellini, Caceres, De Ceglie, Barzagli, Bonucci, Lichtsteiner, Isla; Pogba, Pepe, Marchisio, Padoin, Pirlo, Asamoah, Vidal, Giaccherini, Marrone; Vucinic, Giovinco, Bendtner, Matri, Quagliarella

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
Hope Quags & Vucinic start with Giovinco coming on late to run at a tired Cahill & Luiz...
I hope the players look at the draw vs Lazio as a lose & respond like they did vs Nordselland like they did after the home lost to Inter....
If we play with the same intensity & use our advantages such as home,Terry & Lampard out & also a fully fit Pirlo since he missed Lazio's match, we should walk away with 3 points but unfortunately,it's never that straight forward for us....

It has never been for Italian sides, remember when Mou won UCL with inter ? Their results and group? And Milan 2007, Italy 2006 the group stages ....

The first goal is the most important, for us cos then you will be under a lot of pressure. for you guys cos when we concede it snow balls lol...
Re: Juventus - Chelsea
This should be a brilliant game to watch, most important game of the group stage probably and I am grateful Vucinic is fit enough to at least be considered.

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
i'm really optimistic if Vucinic plays.. Pirlo fully fit is great too. I think licht is the better option in this game due to his defensive abilities and physicality. Marchisio will be great in this game and the key will be vidal.. If he's at his best, we're unstoppable. the ability of vucinic to create chances and hold the ball is a must

Being on top of the group is quite important, easier to go to the next stage aka more money. more money, more investment and etc etc
Re: Juventus - Chelsea
* first post *
Don't know about you guys but I'm rather worried tbh. Couple reasons why:
1) we played essentially our first XI on the weekend, whilst Chelsea rested 1/2 their team;
2) following from 1) our record in mid-week games is very ordinary (i recall reading somewhere that the win against Nordsjaelland was something like the first win since late 2011?!?)
3) i'm not convinced by 3-5-2 against sides that counter with numbers especially as BBC aren't exactly the quickest players around ;
4) Chelsea will park the bus and play for a draw
Regardless looking forward to a massive game!!

Re: Juventus - Chelsea
1. We rested Vucinic and Pirlo was suspended so theyre both fully healthy. Chelsea only rested Mata and Oscar, but Oscar came on as a sub. Cole was also injured but is back now.
2. Yea our midweek form hasnt been great but the last 3 games we have been in amazing form so i dont think that will be a problem. We also hadnt won a European game in a kong time, but we saw how much that matter against Nordsjaelland.
3. Chiellini actually does have decent speed, and Barzagli in paryicular is great at intercepting through balls and passes, and overall we have the 2nd best defensive record in the world. Im not that worried defensively. Remember that the 2 goals Chelsea scored were in quick succession when Vidal was off the field having his ankle treated, and one was a deflection and one was a one in a million goal.
4. Di Matteo claimed earlier today that Chelsea will try to attack us. Hopefully hes not lying. But it is Chelsea, so you never know.
