I'm not pessimist, in fact I'm a great fan and advocate of youth system and promoting players from youth ranks. However, last few seasons I have experienced far too many false-dawns (for a variety of reasons). Still, I'm optimistic and eager to see 3-4 players from youth team becoming seniors in next 2-3 years.

Tier 1: Wilson, Ojo, Rossiter, Kent
Tier 2: Phillips, Canos, McLaughlin, Dunn, Yesil
Tier 3: Branagan, Chirivella, Lussey, Sinclair

That's how I see it right now. Also don't forget the UEFA Youth League mirrors the Champion's League and I think our squad is quite a strong one and should do very well in the competition. All of Ojo, Rossiter, Chirivella, Phillips, Sinclair, Wilson, Canos, Brannagan and Kent will feature. Very strong and deep in midfield and at attack...I expect we'll make it far.

How I felt last year.

Still a bit disappointed in how they fared in the Youth CL, but I still think there's a lot of talent in the pipeline. Phillips will likely move up into tier 1 this year. Will be interesting to see who steps up in terms of new additions or younger players making the step up.

This Is Anfield wrote:With Lucas, Coutinho, Firmino, Can, Joe Allen Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Joao Carlos Teixeira and Jordan Rossiter all able to perform in various roles in the middle of the park, Allan joins a group of high-potential academy stars in competition for a role in the future.

Cameron Brannagan, Pedro Chirivella, Adam Phillips and Yan Dhanda can all be considered rivals for a position in Rodgers’ midfield over the coming seasons, too.

There are some of the old highlights of this season. There was this Steel Park Cup tournament of U21s. I could get two games.

Jose Enrique with the assist, Sinclair on the scoresheet. Enrique and Brannagan look a class above everyone.

Poor Teixeira still having to play with kids even though he's clearly a full on ready pro.

Just look at the winning goal, Watch the replay if you can.
Liverpool 2-1 Leicester, Brannagan with the easiest goal he'll socre in his life. Perfect example of Texeira's skill and Brannagan's attitude.

Pretty interesting stuff.

Now he acts as the main conduit between Klopp and the 'Talent Group' - the selected youngsters who are taken to Melwood to train every Tuesday with the first team under Klopp, which Lijnders believes will help close the gap between youth teams and the senior side.

"What we introduced this year is the Talent Group so that the best players between 14 and 21, instead of the manager going to see them at Kirkby, we bring them to Melwood," added Lijnders.

"We have players of 16 years old training with the first team on a weekly basis, with Philippe [Coutinho] with Adam [Lallana]. Adam and Philippe show the intuition players, 'in difficult situations I can handle it, I can get myself free without the ball or with the ball'. So a player like Ben Woodburn or Herbie Kane, they can see. Young players don't need criticism, young players need models - it's a famous saying.

That actually sounds really cool and conducive to allowing youth products to be promoted to the first team, or at least become good enough to be sold for a decent amount if there's no room.

I think it's a great step. We have been releasing a host of players every year in any case.

Kent is really interesting. Lots of pace, good on the ball, smart, and productive. Far too early to tell where that'll take him and how he'll develop but the talent is there to be a real good player.

Tier 1: Wilson, Ojo, Rossiter, Kent
Tier 2: Phillips, Canos, McLaughlin, Dunn, Yesil
Tier 3: Branagan, Chirivella, Lussey, Sinclair

Dernerner sooooo gonna do a new one of these. Some surprises and changes to the list, and reasoning. I'm doing them in order from left to right this time. Talent and potential are the most important determinations but where they are now factors in and how likely they are to break into the team is a bit factor as well (the sooner the higher rated which hurts guys like Phillips, Wilson, et. al.)

Tier 1: Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Rossiter, Ryan Kent

I don't think much needs to be said here, but these guys are the cream of the crop from our Academy at the moment. All of them have, or will, feature for the first team this season (Rossiter more so than he has already if not for injury). I think Ojo and Rossiter will stick with the team long term while Kent is still a bit iffy but certainly has a shot at it.

Tier 2: Adam Phillips, Harry Wilson, Sergi Canos

Wilson is taking a bump because really his game just lacks intensity and he's struggling a bit physically to impose himself even in League 1. Talent wise he's up there with Ojo and Kent but those two have another gear to them right now that Wilson just doesn't have. Canos on the other hand I could see rising up to tier 1 as he's on the up -- he's physically strong for his age and he plays with a certain tenacity that works well with his skill. He's not really what you would expect of a Spanish trained midfielder/attacker as he's very bullish (though still technically good). I've left Smith out because of his contract dispute then him jumping right into, and training with, the first team.

Tier 3: Pedro Chirivella, Cameron Brannagan, Kevin Stewart

These guys are ok, and good enough to play in the PL (Brannagan and Stewart already look tidy enough to provide solid support as bench/depth players) but I don't see a very high ceiling with them. They can be solid players and each put in a shift/do a role but they won't really make a big impact either way.

Ones to watch for the future: Benjamin Woodburn (the biggest star coming up), Bobby Adekanye, Trent-Alexander Arnold and Toni Gomes.

These guys I just haven't seen enough of or are too young but have glowing reviews from insiders or from what I have seen look to have really high level of talent (Woodburn and Adekanye especially).

So something of note is that we're severely lacking in defensive prospects for the future (which when you consider Flangan and Smith came up is ok I guess, but no relevant CBs). Lloyd Jones looked to have the best chance but I'm not confident of him taking that step up anymore. It's something maybe the team should focus on bringing in more talent for competition.

Solid but unspectacular. Like I said he can be a role player for a PL club, but his upside isn't like that of say Phillips or Rossiter as a midfielder. Those two can be leading midfielders in the PL if they hit their potential while I thin Brannagan is a good player he didn't stand out as a difference maker either.

This kid (Woodburn) has got it all. Only 16 but he'll rise fast. No ceiling on that lad. Adam Phillips really has a great passing range as well...much more deserving of the 'next Gerrard' title than any previous midfielder.
