Fc Schalke 04 youth appreciation thread
Julian Draxler - Just turned 19 and is already a boss.
Manuel Neuer - One of the best goal keepers in the world.
Mesut Ozil - One of the best playmakers in the world (I think he's being wasted in Real Madrids offensive system which is based in individual skill rather than teamwork. He excels at teamwork and having the play run through him but half the time he looks like a bystander) (Just realized he only joined Schalke 04 at 16 so not sure if I should give them credit but since he is from that same city I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.)
Lewis Holtby - On his way to be a great midfielder.
Benedikt Howedes - A boss of a defender.
Maximilian Meyer - UEFA best u17 player award
Germans love to hate on them but its time to appreciate their awesome youth work in Gelsenkirchen.

He hasn't really developed, but he isn't being wasted. He gets minutes and touches and the rest of the team passes to him , which is fair enough considering what other people on the team go through.
Schalke
The fans , the youth, they style everything is amazing. How people support any other German club?
Have to thank Raul for making me a Schalke supporter

Schalke U19 only recently defeated the Bayern U19 for the 2012 BL title.
And yeah, Mesut Özil was born in Gelsenkirchen and is thus a Schalke kid.
BTW, Bayern snatched the former Schalke U19 GK Lukas Raeder, too. (The boy unfortunately got injured and had surgery - he'll only be back around January/February 2013 again)

holtby went through Aachen's youth academy, he came to schalke with 19 or so.
other than that yea, they got a pretty good academy but there are better ones in germany still.

You know what, in theory then Schalke should be able to win the BL in a few years time.

Well, I wouldn't count that out. If Wolfsburg and Stuttgart managed to win the BL during the last 6 years, why not Schalke in the near future, too?ioilersrock448 wrote:You know what, in theory then Schalke should be able to win the BL in a few years time.
Although this season looks pretty much like Bayern's for the taking, but maybe next season could be Schalke's? They sure waited long enough, and their team looks pretty promising atm.
