Nope, I use a customized 3-4-2-1 and I will opt to use the 3-4-3 diamond when I have players that tend to excel on the wings. The whole point of me using a 3 man defense is to not have 5 defenders at the back, I have enough confidence in my 1v1 marking if it ever comes to that. I rather outscore you than shut you out, but please do not confuse that with me conceding a lot of goals as I don't

This is how I line my teams up with my custom formation...

I like that lineup THC but I concede more when I play 3 at the back. Pack opening is a waste of money and coins. I never spent actual money on packs, although I have been tempted plenty of times. The packs this year are awful and much harder to get a good pull compared to the last UT's. I got sick of EA and their BS double the chance. I think it's all BS and just another scheme to get more money.

I have yet to play a game in Fifa 13 with 4 at the back, so I have no idea how I would adapt to it. I tend to go through formation changes every year in Fifa, I cannot remember the order, but it went something like this....4-1-2-1-2 (Fifa 10)....(custom formation/Fifa 11)....4-3-3....4-2-3-1(Fifa 12) and I think that was the last formation I used with 4 at the back.

I tend to customize most of my formations as I am very particular when it comes to positioning.

I'm thinking about trying out your earlier formation that you posted.

I tried out your formation THC, I lost 2-1, I was Brazil and I was playing against Real Madrid (Seasons)

I felt like they hit me way to many times on the counter attack, but I managed to defend okay, since they couldn't score on me from them. 2 of their goals were long shots.

Do you see yourself using it again?

I am sure some of it will come down to playing style, but maybe a few more games with it and you will get a better feel for it. I haven't played in quite a while, but I will try to be mindful of the counter thing next time I get a game in. I do not recall it being a problem, but then again, I tend to select defensive players who are on the pace-ier side. I try to be mindful of silly turnovers and I would say my style of play is a mix between Barcelona and Dortmund - I do my best to play a direct game, but I will not force the action if I do not have to (I think my overall possession in seasons is 56%, I will look to post some statistics later on.)

Perhaps Ill try the formation again, but I think the counter attack can be somewhat avoided by changing some of the player work rates. And as per usual the DM never stays back even if you give him a defensive arrow and High defensive workrate and low attacking workrate.

My gaming style is quite direct, as I like one touch passes, and quick to the net type of game play. Though I am quite comfortable at keeping possession.

Thinking of just doing seasons and using Madrid with this formation. I was doing my biology homework and studying for my midterm for web design. But i need a quick break.

fifa 13 help urgent please , this guy is losing 3-0 and had a freekick he used his gk and i cant get the ball now no player can go near the ball

I think I was hit by karma.

Yesterday I was playing the FUT united cup, I was in the finals, I was losing 4-1 but then around the 80th minute the game disconnected due to lag on his side, so I managed to get another shot at it, I even ended up messaging that guy telling him you deserve it because he was being a troll the whole time when we were playing.

Today I was playing the FUT united cup final, I was versing a team full of IF's and they scored a long range shot in the first 5 min, but I managed to score 2 goals 1 from Coutinho and 1 from El Shaarawy. So fast forward to the 70th minute the game disconnects(there was no lag at all) I ended up losing the finals that I was winning, and I got kicked out of the tournament

After giving some thought, I decided to play the tournament again. I was versing some German team in the finals, it was end to end stuff. It was 3-3, then in the 88th minute Welliton scores! I won the finals 4-3.

Justice has been served.

Dude, there is a big difference between EA and Karma - you clearly did not want to win the first tournament under those circumstances and now you can see that karma has been restored!

So I ended up using Madrid with that formation. I managed to win 2 games and draw 1.

Now, the score lines were all 3-2, 2-1, 2-2 (90 minute equalize from opponent)
I enjoyed the attacking in that formation, with Ronaldo, Benzema, Di Maria, and co I had no problem creating problems for the opponent.


But I play very direct in Fifa. Which often leads to having less possession. So I found myself having more difficulty defending.

My back 3 was Varane, Ramos, Pepe. (I made tons of last ditch tackles with Varane that were perfect

So I switched my formation to 4-2-3-1. And the next games I won consisted of 6-1, 4-0, and 2-0. I felt more comfortable in that formation with Kheidra and Modric in the middle and in having Marcelo and Ramos as my full backs.

All in all I enjoyed the formation but my playing style of such directness tends to leave me exposed at times. I will more than likely use it again.

Oh, I can see what that could be an issue. Being too direct might not be best suited with the formation, but you still seemed to do ok with it. That being said, we do not aim for ok, we aim for greatness and the score lines with the 4-2-3-1 show that.

I find myself making a few last ditch tackles, but not as many as some of you have seemed to encountered. Thanks for the update.

P.S. I used 4-2-3-1 a bunch not too long ago, I personally have a special place in my heart for that formation.

Falcao you don't play with Alonso?

Nah I don't play with Alonso. I would always use him though with Modric instead of Kheidra.

But I've noticed Modric's mobility makes all the difference.

Playing without Alonso is like playing without Ronaldo imo

try out a 4-1-3-2

Alonso will stay at the half line and won't go that far up like he does in other formations like 4-2-3-1

His passing (short and long ones), fk & corners are too important imo

I see what you mean. In the 4-2-3-1 I have noticed he tends to push up and in certain situations (ie Rebound) he is too slow on the ball to do anything.

I'll give the 4-1-3-2 a try and see how it goes.

Yeah I really got pissed when I saw him in the opponents box or near it..

4-1-3-2 makes him stay back and be ready for a counter or something

My favourite formation is the 4-3-2-1 and the 4-2-3-1. I tried many other formations but those two are the ones where I destroy my opponents. Especially with SES playing LF

The 4-2-3-1 I usually use when I am playing a very tough opponent who plays very direct footy, with 2 CDM's it is very difficult for them to do anything but go to the wings and usually I can contain the wings pretty well.

All jokes aside, I have no idea and I am really impressed by your record. Wish we could play a game so that I could see how I fare against you. Not to mention how much fun it would be to play some clubs (it seems like PS3 is holding that facete of the game at the moment)
