Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
Young Boys is actually a solid attacking team. I still remember there performance when they scared the daylights out of Tottenham. Swiss League may be sub standard but this will be no cakewalk and especially given our lack of confidence in front of goal.
-Reina-
-Kelly-Coates-Skrtel-Jose
-Hendo-
Sahin- Shelvey
Downing-Morgan-Assaidi
Kelly to start over Johnson since Glen will need rest for United while Coates to start alongside Skrtel who I believe can bear the workload of the EL along with the game against United. Enrique needs to get back into fitness after the break and to prepare for United. Hendo has been one of our best players in the EL while Sahin and Shelvey to partner up. Downing on the right since he actually cuts in and attacks in that position rather than crossing it like a fool. Morgan I'm confident can score a gol against this side while Assaidi now should be tried out considering its a near mystery of his disappearance. Borini needs rest considering he is one of our hardest working players and should start vs United.

I like your lineup Arq but one change I'd make would be to play Yesil over Morgan. That kid is hugely talented and deserves a debut with the first team. And also Suso on the bench.

Yesil I was definitely considering my friend as I echo your thoughts on this. His talent is undoubted yet I personally don't think he has been given enough time or training under Rodger's system for him to completely adapt just yet. Morgan on the other hand has 2-3 apps and surely deserves a chance as well as having his confidence augmented by the goal possibilities on Thursday. But trust me I am just as excited about Yesil as you are despite my doubts on how he may perform on better levels.
Suso? I would love him to start and would take him over Clowning in a heart beat yet I don't see him starting. We both can pray for an app from the bench though.

Really hope the likes of Suso, Yesil, Adorjan, Robbo, Flanno and Morgan feature against Young Boys in some way. We have a massive game against United - so I'm hoping Gerrard, Suarez, Agger and Johnson are rested.
Hoping Hendo, Suso and Shelvey play together. Unlike you Arq, I feel Suso will start.

I will go with Sepi's line-up. While it will be demanding for Borini, a goal would do a world of good for him.
Also, I hope Suso, Yasil & Morgan get some time on the pitch.

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
Judging from the lineup at the weekend and subsequent statements you can make a few inferences about the possible lineup.
Carragher, Coates, Kelly and Enrique were all left out at the weekend for various reasons. All have to be in contentions to start if fit. Enrique is the biggest question mark here. He may be rested in order to be better rested for the weekend's game against ManU. If Enrique doesn't get the nod, the most likely plan B is Robinson, though Wilson might be given a shot as well. The surprise could be a starting birth for Downing at his newly adopted position of left-back.
In midfield, Sahin's absence against Sunderland was a bit suspicious, suggesting he was being rested ahead of this match. Henderson is another player that hasn't featured much and will be looking to get a chance in the Europa League. The third spot in midfield is much harder to anticipate. It could be Allen, Shelvey, Gerrard or even Suso. It frankly depends on how BR intends on setting up the midfield triangle.
On the wings, Assaidi is rumored to be in line for a debut on Thursday, and I couldn't be happier about it. I can't wait to see what this lad has to offer. The other wing position could very well be Pacheco, or even Suso if he isn't used in midfield. Downing is another player that has a shot at the wing slot. It would surprise me, however, if Sterling were to start. He’s been used in the last few league matches, and may get his first game against ManU on Sunday. He needs to be rested, or at least benched for this one.
Striker is our biggest conundrum. Suarez and likely Borini will be rested with a view to a fresh strike-force on Sunday. The likely candidates are Morgan and Yesil. Yesil may get the nod based on his recent performances for Germany’s U-19 squad. This is another recent signing I am very excited to see get a debut. I just hope he can live up to the lofty expectations some of us have for him. Remember, the kid is only 18… He still has his entire career ahead of him. Let’s not decide (either way) based on one match.
Predicted lineup:
---------Yesil
-Assaidi--------Downing
------Sahin-Hendo
----------Allen
Robinson-----------Kelly
-----Coates-Carragher
----------Reina
Wishful lineup (because why not):
---------Yesil
-Assaidi--------Pacheco
---------Suso
------Sahin-Hendo
Robinson-----------Flanno
------Coates-Kelly
---------Reina

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
Agree for the most with your lineups Treaddyreddy but I would play Jones ahead of Reina. We should give our other keepers a chance to have a shot at the #1 jersey. Reina has been so poor that I strongly believe Gulacsi would be a better choice in goal than him.

Hyperbole I agree with but it isn't knee-jerk when he's been shite for almost 2 years.

Fine, just a little over-dramatic, but it isn't in any way, shape, or form knee-jerk. He's been below par for a long while.

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
It's still knee-jerk to say you "strongly believe [a youth keeper] would be a better choice."
Reina hasn't been in properly bad form until this season or so. In the last two years he's been below his best, but still one of the better/best keepers in the league. Given that his real fall from grace has only been over the past month or two (in footballing time) I would certainly maintain that calling for him to be dropped is still knee-jerk, especially when you're suggesting a 22 year old would be a better choice.

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
Suso and Yesil.
To be honest, I'm quite happy we didn't sign a forward on deadline day. It's quite clear I didn't rate the two rumoured players we were in for (Dempsey/Sturridge) so I'm happy the lapse of concentration from management on deadline day restricted signing them. Bit selflish but that's the truth. The manager finally has the opportunity to experiment with some youth. Sterling has definitely rejuvenated (sp?) the squad, and I also feel we'll see a number of players on the way up that will help benefit Liverpool Football Club.

RG, I miss your posts in here. Come into the Liverpool section more often! Always interesting to get views from people that don't support Liverpool. I can't personally take the general section seriously, as there are too many people in there 'trolling' nowadays. The likes of The Messiah and Mole etc...

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
Brendan Rodgers has named a youthful squad for Liverpool's Europa League group-stage opener with Young Boys on Thursday night.
The Reds departed John Lennon airport for Switzerland shortly after noon on Wednesday, with 20 players making the journey.
Among those on the plane were Samed Yesil, Suso, Conor Coady, Andre Wisdom, Adam Morgan, Peter Gulacsi and Dani Pacheco.
More experienced colleagues such as Jamie Carragher, Brad Jones, Stewart Downing, Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson, Jonjo Shelvey and Sebastian Coates were included in the travelling party, while summer signings Nuri Sahin and Oussama Assaidi have also made the trip.

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
Jones is more likely. I wouldn't begrudge him a shot at atarting in Europe or the Prem League. Reina hasn't been good recently, and a few good performances from the Aussie could motivate him a bit more.
Honestly, I'm not sure about Coady at CDM. He has yet to really impress me, and the hype coming out of the academy has dropped off since the lad turned 18 and hasn't quite looked like breaking into the first team. I suppose this is as good a time as any to see him get his shot.
I also don't think Kelly and Enrique will start together. If Kelly starts it probably means Enrique will be fit for Sunday. If Enrique starts, Kelly/Johnson will likely be the partnership at the weekend and therefore Robbo should get a shot.

Re: the game @ Wankdorf on thursday
You're probably right that Jones will get the nod ahead of Gulacsi, but I personally prefer Peter and think he's better than Brad.
We don't really know for sure if Kelly is even with the squad in Switzerland so you maybe right there too.
As for Coady, I'm just hoping to see him play, like you mentioned all the hype around him has died down, so I'm wondering the cause of that was.
