Fifa's new ranking

Ranking teams based on an uneven number of tournaments adds another layer of uselessness to an already useless ranking.

Actually it makes it more valid as it lessens the game and relative toughness gap of Uefa and Conmebol.

Well, the AFCoN is every two years, not every 4 like the Euro, and I bet this is just counted like the Euro, too. So why shouldn't the Copa America Centenario count?

You could always use the elo rankings if you really want a mathematical one, which is largely considered to be more accurate

Nonsense ranking even more than usual. Its hard to make a worse system.

Belgium second and over Germany.
Colombia 4th and both over Chile
Wales at 10th just because.

I swear we've been #1 the most months since like 2000, still no WC to show, I don't put much faith in the FIFA rankings.

Why is elo any more of a joke than fifa? Compare the two top 15 and tell me which one is more inaccurate...

Belgium is 14 in ELO. Nuff said.

Belgium has been dog poop in final phases of official comps and have done nothing for decades really... talent doesn't mean you should get ranked higher.  You need to get results on the big stage.

ELO is pretty accurate as I looked at it.  Not sure what their method is...  but the ranking looks close to what it should be.

HOWEVER, Argentina should not be number 1 and Portugal should not be number 10. Portugal does suffer from basically not winning games at the Euro other than 1 in regular time... and being crap in the qualifiers too. So there's that part.

And again;
FIFA rankings do nothing but award points for matches won, the higher your opponent's ranked the more points you get.

So winning qualifiers, friendlies, and group games and then losing just one knockout-game, no matter how silly that was, doesn't really drop you many points.

Think of it more like an unfair league table where some teams get to play against scrubs only, but get full points, and less of any kind of "skill ranking" or something.
