I know it's bleacher report and blah blah blah they're shite but whatever, just read and share your thoughts.

The trade did happen!!! And it seems like the Red Sox are heading for mediocrity atm going from the article!!! I need someone that knows baseball to confirm this, because I don't know anything about baseball.

Will this affect us at all? Are FSG focusing more on Liverpool now because our prestige is higher than Red Sox's around the world?? Will there possibly be more investments in the club???

Stevieg8 & Dontreaddyreaddy I'm looking at you two.....give us whatever you can on this topic!!!

I dunno, I mean, obviously FSG are not super-rich and they have to think about where the money comes from to invest in their sports clubs. But it's too early to offer anything but speculation about any financial contacts between Liverpool FC and Red Sox. Like, does the other's trading affect the other one.

If somebody follows these both clubs financially, maybe he could then spot any signs of this sort of "bond", but I'm not bothered about this as of now.

This trade was more baseball-focused than financially focused. Yes, it was made for financial reasons, but it's more like the trimming of the wage bill LFC has done this summer. The Red Sox were mediocre this season, not headed for mediocrity; and they had enormous sums of money committed to a few underperforming players, guaranteeing that they would continue being mediocre for some time. Unbelievably, they managed to get a team (the Dodgers) to accept three HUGE contracts and give up top players in return. For comparison, imagine Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing were on 200k/week EACH; now imagine Tottenham agreed to buy all three, paying full wages, and in exchange we got their top three prospects. Adrian Gonzalez was the only truly "good" player involved in the deal, and they were able to dump two contracts along with him as a sort of "tax" for giving him up.

In conclusion, it was not the trade that will make the Sox mediocre; if anything, it's going to make them better - short term and long term. Instead, they were mediocre beforehand, and this trade allowed them to reinvent that identity and move in a new direction, so that maybe they can avoid the massive contracts to poor players that have hamstrung them recently.

I don't see how this would have any affect on Liverpool; since FSG bought the team, people have been trying to claim the finances are linked - "The Red Sox just spent a ton of money on players, Liverpool has no money to spend" etc. and it's always been proven false. If there was any connection though, this would simply mean Liverpool have more money to spend. The Red Sox just shed almost 300 million dollars in contracts (and you think Charlie Adam is overpaid...) over the next 4-5 years, so there's nothing but savings going on here. I doubt there's any connection, but if their was, it would mean Liverpool is flush with cash right now, not strapped.
