Gervinho is a flop

At Lille, Gervinho's job was made simple... he made runs off the corner into the box and he either shot the ball on goal or centered to an area. He didn't have to lift his head to look for a player or get too fancy. His options were simple.

At Arsenal, he actually needs to think more out there and, frankly, he's horrible at it. You have to take choice out of his hands.

Add a lack of confidence and increased selfishness... basically the Arsenal version of Sturridge.

Theo's supposed to have no footballing brain. He is still a footballing equivalent of Einstein if compared with Gervais.

(Who the effity eff even thought of naming him 'gervinho'? I demand an immediate and permanent stop to using that name on GL. I resolve to refer to him as Gervais henceforth.)

It occurred to me that Gervinho is this Wenger-generation's version of Alexander Hleb. But the decline in Arsenal's recent fortunes is such that when Hleb used to frustrate and dribble aimlessly around the box, he still "failed" at a higher level than Gervinho does these days. In a nutshell, this is the transition from the Arsenal of 4-6 years ago, which could still begin a season with genuine title hopes, to the Arsenal of today, which sadly can't.

(So what I'm saying is that yes, Hleb could do awesome things - that's part of my point. But we can all remember how facepalm-inducing he could be sometimes, too, right?)

Jist of it was I don't think Ramsey and Gervinho are good enough and Wenger is too stubborn.

He disagreed on Ramsey, he thinks it's down to his injury, but he agreed on everything else. I asked what players he would go for in Jan...I was so excited I missed a but but I did hear him say Tiote and Ba. I think he mentioned 3 players, but I'll need to watch the re-run to get the other.

Agree that Gervais got waaaaaaaaay more time than players who could have made a bigger impact in his place like Vela, Park and I think Ryo could have done some damage this year if given half of his time instead of rotting on the Wigan bench.

This is what makes Arsenal fans crazy, Wenger decision making. Some players who show some potintal get no playing time and those who are just shit keep getting starts over and over again.

I thought Gervinho would be a decent rotational player, kind of like what we had with Kalou previously and I assumed he would be decent against the lesser teams due to his base skills. But my god he is horrible, I really wonder what Wenger saw in him.

Ryo's had like a groin problem and an ankle issue which has kept him out of many games, come ACON when Kone is gone he will show his power again

Looked so good in France but hes been exposed in England, hes the perfect example of the good players around him making him look much better then he is.

I agree with everything you said except this, n his first start of the season after three months on the bench Sturridge looked much better then Gervinho whose been in the team regularly this season, although they are both overly selfish

Wow, now I was never a big Eboue fan! That being said, gerv could not carry Eboue's boots.

That stat people are tweeting which shows how much better Gervinho was than Ben Arfa in Ligue 1 is irrelevant. What's more important is what happens in the premier league. And I know who'd I take.
