I think Falcao and Cavani are much better comparables.
Plastic fans won't care about Suarez's reputation and he is better and more exciting player than Bale, therefore he is at least as marketable as Bale.
I agree

Re: Luisito
What's more "marketable"? Winning the league / success or having a player that sells player shirts because he's a "big signing"? Madrid's mentality for the past 8 years is the reason I've lost all respect for them.
Suarez will win RM the league. He will go for a ridiculous fee. The Uruguayan press weren't ever involved so not sure how they can put Suarez' clause in the same bracket as Cavani or Falcao. I think people lack the understanding of the clause being quoted as "at least guarantee themselves a club record transfer fee in the event of his departure."

It's about the younger kids, which make up huge portion of the merchandising marketplace. Parents will not buy their kids the jersey of a questionable character guy.... they'll likely buy a Bekham jersey as opposed to a Ronaldinho jersey for example. Nothing to do with footballing ability.Robespierre wrote:Art Morte wrote:sportsczy wrote:Bale is 24 and very marketable. Also, Bale is massively popular in Asia because he has "the look", which is very important there. Suarez has no appeal in Asia. It's very much pop culture over there.
That sort of thing really impact pricing.

Lol, that's bullshit.
Ask any kid back in the day and they'd ask for a Dinho shirt over Beckham any day of the week.
And the only way Bale has "the look" are for the people that believe or study in evolution.

Handing armband to Henderson who gave it to Lucas for the captaincy to eventually end up with Agger when he came on the pitch.

Well FA were never going to give it to him for all the shit he's done/been accused of, but they just couldn't not give it to him this past December.

Re: Luisito
Was a moment in the game yesterday where Luis shot from a tight angle and realised he should of passed to Sturridge after Butland saved it.
Sturridge looked at him, and Suarez is pointing at himself calling himself crazy or stupid or something. Daniel laughs it off. Anyone have a gif?
Was at the end, Sterling put Luis through in on goal.

He used football to "escape" his rough childhood, HMR. Football took his mind off difficulties when he was a kid.
