This article is a couple weeks old now, but highlights one massive problem this season:

In simpler terms, the numbers are proving firstly that Arsenal's actual goal output is a lot smaller than it should be (at the time of writing, we were 11 goals worse off where we should have been - imagine the difference that could have made). Coincidentally, Arsenal at that time were 5 points worse off where they should have been, based on expected results.

Secondly, only Giroud has matched his expected goals output. Yes, the striker we all pan for being inefficient has been our most efficient attacker. Walcott and Ramsey have the worse conversion rates. Alexis and Ozil have also fallen short of their expected goals output.

The article makes a fairly decent point about how Wenger could have felt justified about not signing a new attacker because his current attackers were expected to score enough goals - they've just underperformed in front of goal this year for some reason.

It's incredible how his form has just disappeared considering he scored 18 goals in 29 games before this draught began.

Mesut Ozil has just broken the record for chances created in a single Premier League season with 137, but it's looking unlikely now that he'll break the record for the amount of assists in a season.

Ozil has contributed to 41% (6 goals, 18 assists) of Arsenal's league goals this season.

In all competitions, Ozil and Alexis combined have contributed towards 54 of Arsenal's 84 goals this season.
