A Mata of Time: Chelsea to tie down Spanish star to a new five-year deal:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/juan-mata-new-contract-chelsea-1502569
Well deserved, especially on the wage front. Best player in the team making £55,000 a week? Madness.

Re: Rumour Mill
Definitely.
He could go on to become a club legend. The way he plays, celebrates and handles himself on and off the pitch reminds me of Lampard when he was playing regularly. Shows a lot of heart and commitment to the club

Re: Rumour Mill
Not bad? Perhaps. But he's a player who's infinitely not needed. He's versatile, but I can't see where he fits into the team. He's not going to play over the likes of Mata, Hazard, Moses, etc. in AM, he's not going to play up front with Ba now at the club and more center-forwards likely to arrive in the summer still, and he's not needed in central midfield where there's already quality players as well as loan and youth prospects like Josh coming back.iNFINITY9910 wrote:Fellaini is not bad actually, so DL4 back to CB??
Would be another 25 million quid down the drain.

Re: Rumour Mill
Fellaini would be a quality addition to the side and a clear pivot starter, he himself believes his best position is in DM. He Will add so much more to the side on a pure set piece side let alone football ability, he has surprisingly good long shots.
There was a WAGNH article on how he would fit and what he brings, personally I would prefer Benat but Fellaini would be the best CM we have if we signed him. Also there's really no poinT talking about Josh and Nathan this season, especially Josh they both need to get a loan in the PL. Maybe both their clubs get promoted and a loan is extended, would be a ideal situation.

Re: Rumour Mill
Only problem is, by the time these slightly younger players are 'ready', the first-team established ones the club signed to use while the younguns were gaining experience will only keep them out of the side when they return, ironically enough. In the end, you have to make a decision. You can't sign the very best young players in the world (as well as earmark the promising academy ones like Josh) to gain experience and get into the first team, and then when the need for players in whatever positions does arise, just completely bypass them and and blow £25m+ on established replacements. Can't have it both ways. There's simply no philosophy at Chelsea. Needs fixing, quick.Abramovich wrote:Fellaini would be a quality addition to the side and a clear pivot starter, he himself believes his best position is in DM.
