Ok, How about this for a formation?
I know there are arrows everywhere buy they represent possible runs the players could make. It would mean Mata would have to do a lot of defending as well as Hazard and Oscar. This formation could certainly work against weaker teams as we could play possession football.

Terry has done it countless times while Ashley has bombed forward.
It's not a direct LB but it is more Left sided than where he normally is.

There's a reason RDM moved Mata to the middle. Yes because he was more effective there but also because Mata couldn't defend a rat to save his life and he was constantly exposing Cole on the wing. Kalou was much better cover down the LW. I doubt RDM goes back to having Mata on the wing.

Hence Mata on the right Where he has Ivanovic and Ramires behind him. Hazard has a better work rate and will track back so he can be on the left.

Meh....I'd feel much safer with Mata down the middle. At least he has both players in the pivot to cover his mistakes.
