We picked the wrong one

So, we all know the deal Milan had with Genoa over El Shaarawy and Merkel right? Well, now Merkel is completely property of Genoa because we decided to keep Shaarawy.

That's totally messed up. Merkel shows some brilliance since he was 19 years old, Shaarawy is good, but I'm sorry, nothing special from what's out there.

Milan are gonna regret it.

We let Pirlos and Merkels go, we keep Inzaghis and Muntaris.

I agree, but I wouldn't say we picked the wrong one. I'm just disappointed that we couldn't keep both.

agreed. so el sharawwy is worth roughly 16 million!!!

i hope el sharawwy really justifies this price and faith galliani has put on him, we just just merkel for him.

There's an enormous difference between being an average player and an average prospect, El Shaarawy has done well in his first season at a top club having come from Serie B and the past year has been a fantastic learning curve for him.

As for Merkel, it's a pity we have lost him and I'd have liked to retain his contract, however we are dealing with long term prospects and neither can be considered a guarantee for the future. Our club has chosen to invest time into El Shaarawy and I'm personally very happy with the decision, however I accept that one might equally have preferred Merkel to stay. That we initially parted with a great deal of money to secure half of El Shaarawy's contract no doubt heavily affected this decision to close the deal in such a fashion might seem unfair to Merkel, however we won't feel the immediate effects of the deal, as with the Pharaoh.

I personally feel that El Shaarawy is something special, so I'm satisfied. I wish Merkel all the best in the future, he may very well return some day based upon his statements recently. I just hope he doesn't struggle under a poor manager as he develops, however I can foresee it happening.

Both of them are not average, they both are very talented with El Shaarawy having a little more.

They both aren't average. But if it meant getting SES on full ownership then I'm ok with letting Merkel go. Its not like he won't come back someday

SES is the future. Don't know how you can say he is average.

I am afraid there's a good chance we might lose Merkel for good , like we lost Gourcuff , despite how he might develop from now on.

I don't know if anyone really recalls how talented and exciting Gourcuff was , more or less in the same age as Merkel , at Milan ; twice the player Merkel has shown so far to be . And we still let him go try his luck elsewhere .

Since Gourcuff , the latest really promising youngsters that had a chance to establish themselves were these 2 , but El Sharaawy grabbed this chance by the balls . Can't say Merkel is anywhere close to what Gourcuff was at this age , so , i am glad we kept the Pharaoh instead .

I just hope SEX can establish himself as a regular already by next season .

Can't wait to see him with Pato up front , i am very eager to watch them play some games together .

SES is better than Merkel.. but we should have kept merkel.. i guess there is some bias as SES is italian

i dont see how SES and Merkel are above average players atm.they haven't proven anything yet other than that they are just good prospects.but atm,they are average players imo

people need to understand that being average =/= bad.....Average:The usual or ordinary kind or quality
