Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
Manuel Neuer set a new record for Bayern - they only allowed 1 goal against in all away matches of the BL Hinrunde (first half of the season).

Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
This year, Manuel Neuer only made the 4th place of the kicker BL GK ranking as the journalists at kicker weren't so impressed by his mistakes against Nürnberg and Sweden plus some risky outfield adventures. ^^

Manuel Neuer's impact on defense
I didn't write this part but it's very interesting:
"06/07 neuer/schalke conceded fewest goals
07/08 only kahn/bayern conceded fewer goals than neuer/schalke
08/09 neuer/schalke conceded fewest goals
09/10 neuer/schalke conceded fewest goals
10/11 only 3 teams conceded fewer goals than neuer/schalke (despite terrible season and 14th place)
11/12 neuer/bayern conceded fewest goals
12/13 neuer/bayern conceded fewest goals"
I'll take the occasional blunder from him if he keeps this up.

Funnily enough, I saw the exact same post on redcafe a couple of hours ago.
I found it interesting then, and I still do.

Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
Well, the importance of a good GK is that he not only has the physical attributes, but he needs to be able to organise the defense properly, and even more important, he needs to have an air about him that assures the defenders. If they know they have someone back there who will be able to keep the balls out, they will not become afraid when the ball nears the goal and thus make lesser mistakes themselves.

As a CB, I agree with this. You feel a lot safer with a trusty GK in goal.

Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
Manuel Neuer was voted World's Best Keeper 2013 by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
The Top 5:
1. Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern München) - 211 points
2. Gigi Buffon (Juventus Turin) - 78 points
3. Petr Cech (FC Chelsea) - 64 points
4. Thibaut Courtois (Atletico Madrid)
5. Victor Valdes (FC Barcelona)
In earlier years, Oliver Kahn (1999, 2001, 2002) and Andreas Köpke (1996) were elected World's Best Keeper by the IFFHS, too.

One of the worst gk performance i have seen recently, what happened Rwo?
He reminded of the game he had vs Chelsea in the supercup, completely fluffed a Hazard shot aimed straight at his feet

Sorry, didn't watch the match yesterday. I had too much fun configuring a new Gentoo Linux kernel as udev has some weird ideas about naming devices (why on earth does my ethernet card need to be named enp3s0 instead of the good old eth0???) and I managed to mess up the ALSA config big time -_-'

Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
Erm, Iker didnt look nearly half as bad as Neuer in that game, even though the eventual score line was much worse. In fact, if not for him it could have been much worse(!!!), with none of the goals scored that fateful night preventable.
In the present case, the first and third goals were pretty much straight at him, albeit with some power and venom, and he should have done better IMO. His whole sweeper keeper thing was also pretty much unconvincing and could easily have led to more embarrassment.

Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
It was one bad performance. He has had 100 performances worthy of MOTM.
Just because a player is WC doesn't mean he won't have bad days. Thiago Silva is considered as the best CB in the world and yet he has had many issues this season.

Re: #1 - Manuel Neuer
stop fanboying, my post just explains how every top player who plays somewhere in the backline will not ever have a perfect record which is practically impossible.Kamikaze692 wrote:Erm, Iker didnt look nearly half as bad as Neuer in that game, even though the eventual score line was much worse. Big time forward player does nothing for 89 minutes and scores goal = good game
Big time defensive/keeper player does good for 89 minutes and has one error = flop worst thing ever.

So, I updated the videos, and pics a bit. The videos are basically the same ones as in the multimedia section, but it can't hurt to have them in two places.
