So composed ALL the time, and is always in control. Hardly fumbles, insane reflexes, and so commanding inside his box.

Thoughts??? Sources say bayern players chickened out. Nobody wanted to be "Robben".

They all said they were tired & NO BALLS Heyneckes pleaded to them.

How can a Dead Ball Specialist like Kroos or a guys like Tymo or DVB with their experience refuse. Nothing much to add.

Neuer at least had balls. There is a reason why he was the Schalke captain when he was still there.

My respect for Neuer went up.

I was surprised that Neuer took the penalty but when he did took it like a champ

i thought Neuer taking the PK was an absolute masterstroke, Cech wouldve been studying the penalty taking patterns of Robben, Ribery, Gomez, Shweni but i dont think anybody expected Neuer to take one, especially so early in the shootout, he took really well too

I know a lot of you will blame Gomez or Robben but this is the problem of this Generation of Germans. They are like the Dutch of 70's. 2002 Finals,2006 Semis,2010 CHL,2012 CHL.

And Schweni missed a PK,unlucky though. They dont finish games with clinicial efficiency. They play great beautiful football like the Dutch of 70's.

And Bastian was with Neuer holding his head like a Girl & looking other side when RObben was taking the PK. I thought he was supposed to be the leader.

What is Neuer had missed after being forced to take a PK because everyone backed off. Robben was mentally destroyed after that PK.

Why did Kroos not take a PK??? He is a dead Ball Specialist.

And why did Tymo not shoot. As Sushi or someone else said in another thread, Tymo is a player in the mould of Ballack. Nobody wanted to be a "Robben".

In general although we lost, I am proud of the way we played. But not of the attitude of backing off,refusing to take PK's making GK take one.

Mad respect for Neuer for taking it although I feel he could have stopped the goal. Then again Robben should have scored too.

Well, I just saw an analysis of the Drogba goal, the shot was simply to strong for Neuer to save it. He was in the right corner and even had his hand there, but the power behind it prevented that. -_-'

Thomas Helmer brought up a very fitting Kahn quote in the analysis: "In super slow-mo every ball is easily saveable."

BTW, I'd be all for getting the captain's armband from Lahm and giving it to Neuer - I think he'll really become a Titan in his own right. I mean, he was Schalke captain for a reason, too.

Nerlinger requested but he still backed out. Tymo is actually a PK taker for Ukraine & he takes PK's for Shakhtar & Zenit.Or used to.

Him,Kroos backing out to take Neuer take is ridiculous. I dont like such attitude.

It was a real pity that Alaba was suspended and Müller and Ribéry already subbed off (albeit due to injury) - I think these three would have been great in the shootout. Actually I think Badstuber would be a great penalty taker, too. It seems to be almost forgotten now, but he has a great shot at FKs, too.

That kind of attitude is the last thing I'd expect from Germans to be honest. Perhaps I'm wrong, but aren't Germans known for stepping it up and finishing strong (and for this reason they are never underdogs)?
