Re: Premier League Debt Table
Wolves made a profit?! Good for them. What Fulham doing with such a huge debt? Are they trying to build a new stadium?!

Re: Premier League Debt Table
Incomplete explanation. Should explain if that's gross debt, net debt or financial debt.
Surprised at Fulham's and Newcastle's debt anyway.
Mole, you can't complain anymore about your president. He knows what he is doing making profit while putting Newcastle at the top....

Re: Premier League Debt Table
Fulham, Newcastle, Aston Villa have all got wealthy owners who have bankrolled them. Can't be arsed to check right now, but I'm pretty sure some if not all of them have debt to their owners, which they are not required to pay back - or at the least they don't have to pay interest for.

I'm not sure...If debt to owners was included in the calculation, surely Man City and Chelsea would be far higher?
IIRC, the problem with Fulham and Villa is that (while they have wealthy owners) their owners DON'T actually bankroll the club...they run the club as normal (and take any profits for themselves instead of re-investing) - I'm unsure of Fulham but I'm quite certain thats how its been at Villa

Off topic but that is really such a disorganised photo shoot of an UCL trophy being lifted. And why in God's name is Bosingwa lifting the trophy?!

The good news is that only £12 million of this debt is owed to banks with the lion’s share (£102 million) owed to Lerner via a series of loan notes. These generally bear interest at LIBOR + 2% and are repayable on dates ranging from December 2016 to January 2021.
Although there is clearly a possibility that Lerner might ask for his money back at some stage, this seems unlikely, at least for the time being. As an example of his generosity, the club stopped paying interest on his loans in 2008, e.g. the interest paid in 2011 was only the £0.7 million on the bank loans, so excluded the £5.6 million charge on the loan notes that was accrued in the profit and loss account.
This would back up Lerner’s assertion that he does not really consider the money that Villa owe him as debt at all, but as a form of capital investment.
As at 30 June 2009, Fulham’s gross debt stood at an enormous £207 million, which is the 5th highest in the Premier League, only behind the so-called Big Four. However, only £12 million of this debt comes from commercial bank loans with the vast majority (£196 million) owed to the owner via a number of group companies. Al Fayed’s generosity is highlighted by the “soft” nature of the debt with the £183 million loans from the parent company being interest-free, which really helps the club’s financials.
Furthermore, much of this debt (£83 million) is unsecured, which means that Al Fayed has no guarantee of repayment. Even though £100 million is secured on the club’s assets, the accounts contain assurances from Al Fayed’s parent company that “no repayment demand will be made which would cause the group to become technically insolvent.”
Quotes from the Swiss Ramble, who is an absolute ace with these football finances things, if you ask me.
So these clubs are indebted to their owners. I see no problem there, really. I mean, who owner would forcefully ask for their money back when that would mean their very own "company" would seriously suffer? If Abramovic used this same accounting method at Chelsea, then Chelsea would have a huge, interest free debt to him. But that would make no difference as he would never ask for his money back (with the whole idea being ridiculous).

Re: Premier League Debt Table
Dunno how we have that much debt, wasnt long ago Short cleared it.
We have made a decent amount of cash aswell recently from player sales and the concerts we hold at the SOL.
Although we are expanding our academy and building a indoor training facility which will cost a few quid. But that is a recent thing and im not sure if it would be added to that.
Surprised at wolves making a profit, they have just spent allot of money building a new stand.
Which is a bit of a failure

Re: Premier League Debt Table
This is misleading.....
The only debt we have is the debt to the owner Mike Ashley.... we dont owe a single penny to the banks or anyone else....

Re: Premier League Debt Table
I do actually because our finances have to be revealed like every other football club....
http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/newcastle-united-life-in-northern-town.html?utm_source=BP_recent
Theres still massive strides to be made but the fact we made a substantial profit last season and have halved the wage bill while improving the team.
That 131m comes from the 140m loan from Ashley to stop a cashflow problem at the time....
Also i have no problem with Ashley anymore and most Newcastle fans dont... he's doing an amazing job on the financial side and everything is going great....
The only thing that people are pissed off with him over is some of the PR disasters since he became owner like renaming the stadium etc etc.
Of course we were pissed off with selling the likes Carroll, Enrique, Nolan and Barton but we have now seen he was right.
I am still not happy with the stadium renaming as is no one else but all in all he's doing a great job.
