Said it for the last few months now and i stand by it despite the fact Prandelli make some awful decisions as far as the squad goes....
But it would'nt suprise me in the slightest if Italy go very far.... they have a young generation coming up and will be built around the Juventus team that has gone through the season unbeaten...
If Prandelli insists on playing a 4-3-1-2 with Montolivo as the trequartista then there is little hope
Indeed, and when I heard about Montolivo's injury; I frantically excited. Surely I don't condon' anyone to be hurt or suffer in pain, but I was excited to know that maybe there could of been an alternative. Seeing Verratti in that squad, really wants me to see him start in that role. Giovinco would be perfect, but Prandelli see's him purely as a striker. Cassano? Who knows.
I wouldn't mind seeing our 3-5-2 implemented though.

Re: Who Do You Think Will Win The Euros?
I wouldn't mind seeing the 3-5-2, the players exist to play that a lot better than the 4-3-1-2 in my opinion. Same goes for a 4-3-3 potentially.
I was shocked to see Verratti's name, I'll be surprised if he makes the 23 man squad (no doubt he has the talent, it just might be too soon in the eyes of some). Anyways, if he even was to make the 23 man squad there is no guarantee that he would be starting or having an influential role but it is plausible. I hope he does so he can cozy up with his future Juventus teammates early.
Considering the 4-3-1-2 was the focal point during qualifiers I really don't expect it to change. I hope so, but we'll see. I do trust Prandelli, even though that USA showing severely damaged it for me.
Btw, welcome to the forums

This, and it is very close to being ideal except for Montolivo in that position
Everything else is functional

Re: Who Do You Think Will Win The Euros?
Well to be honest, the system isn't really a 4-3-1-2 to be exact. It's in fact a 4-4-2 diamond.
As for Montolivo, he will not be the ideal Trequartisa. You see, the way Prandelli focuses his system is by having the midfield rotate in the diamond. So at first it will be Montolivo, however during the game, you will see Pirlo slotted in the hole while Montolivo is the Regista. In circumstances in defending, De Rossi will be at the back, while the rest switch to their respective positions.
It's used to confuse their oppposition, and to me works great. The only problem is, none of the above are true treqaurtistas. Sure, Prandelli says he dosen't require one, as he wants to focus on 'modern football', but at the end of the day... he trully has at his disposal a tremendous talent like Verratti would would fit quite nicely. Imagine, Pirlo and Verratti two players who first started off as Trequartista and now Regista's rotating in these roles.. that would be an unstoppable creative force.

Man, I just want to punch a baby whenever I see Montolivo there. For me, he's filler since Italy has no one better there. The Italy offense is like two men job but Prandelli has that position tailor made for his love child Montolivo.
Assist stats this season
13 Pirlo (Juventus)
12 Miccoli (Palermo)
11 Giovinco (Parma)
10 Cassano (Milan) / Armero (Udinese)
so lets put headless chicken Montovilo play as trequartista ( not that he's one, maybe fake trequartista is the term)

or explode at any minute, that's probably reason why Osvaldo was left out.

It's not true. He won't explode at any minute...I've watched City long enough to know.
He has certainly matured a lot.

I think Netherlands or Germany will win it. Poland will be the underdogs - they are at home and they have a good team, I predict them reaching atleast the quarterfinals.
