Robin Van Persie
http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2012/05/04/3079105/i-will-always-feel-a-gunner-arsenal-captain-van-persie'I will always feel a Gunner'
He sounds like Jesus before his last supper :lol!: I'd say he's likely to move, the question is where to? If I were Wenger I'd just sell some dead wood and pay him 150000 per week.

Re: Robin Van Persie
We've already whipped up a tidy 140K per week contract for him, which i feel is proportionate but respectable. It's up to him to put pen to paper

That being said, a player like RVP is a 8M/year player in a different club.

Re: Robin Van Persie
If finishing 4th is like a trophy does that mean finishing 1st is like quadruple ?
Re: Robin Van Persie
He asked the board to be ambitious in terms of signings, and they started pretty well with Podolski. Meh he'll sign soon

Re: Robin Van Persie
IF I'm Arsenal it's really hard to put a value on RVP.
On current form alone 140k a week is insulting. It's not even close to what other teams will offer him.
Just to compare I believe Yaya is on 220k a week and that deal was done 2 years ago contracts usually go up not down over time. With teams like Chelsea, Real, Barca, City, PSG etc they can offer him that and not even blink an eye.
But then you factor in the injuries and age and the seasons that have been cut short due to injuries over and over and over again and in some of those seasons you could say had they not lost him they would have won the EPL.
But the money he was making those seasons was not astronomical so it's not such a big deal.
Then you have to take into consideration that athletes always tend to have there best years in "contract years" especially over here in the states.
1)Does Arsenal look at it like we will get 3-4 more years of RVP at this level?
2) Or do they look at it as this is the best we will ever get from him and the odds are with his injury history he will never produce like this again plus he will be getting older and then we would have to break our wage structure with other players lining up at the front office with there hands out?
3) OR do they say to compete for titles in Europe and domestically we have to break our wage structure anyways and what player better to do it with then RVP?
I really don't know the answer to this and I'm sure the boardroom at Arsenal must be split on what to do. I'm sure they all want to keep him but at what cost and what do they think the return will be?
It's a unique situation and I will be interested to see how it plays out.

Re: Robin Van Persie
People need to get a grip.
People are calling 140K a week a insult ffs.
Say it's comparatively undervaluing him in terms of the global footballing market....don't call it an insult lol.
He has a decision to make to be honest...Arsenal is never going to pay him what others may offer better chances of trophies so I don't think 140k or 120k or 190k will make a huge difference.Last big contract, last couple of years to be a starter on a title winning team...etc etc.

Re: Robin Van Persie
No, shitting through his letterbox would be insulting. One hundred and forty thousand British pounds is anything but insulting and is, in actuality, a hefty amount of moolah, moolah that you'd personally get down on all fours and bark like a dog forvivabarca38 wrote:Even if He loves the club that much,140k is insulting to him

Re: Robin Van Persie
In what world is £140k p/w "insulting"?
You absolutely cannot compare what Arsenal can and will offer him with what clubs like Real Madrid and Man City would offer him, because what those clubs can offer isn't the universal wage a club should offer it's best players. They're exceptions. Yaya Toure is on £220k p/w - that's a big exception. No other club in the world would offer him that amount.

Yes, because United and Arsenal have the same wage structure.
