Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Really impressed with UAE, although Uruguay held out in the end. They have nothing to be ashamed of, that was a great performance, although you could clearly see they were pretty tired at the end of the game. The fasting may have something to do with that.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
I'm not surprised, just thoroughly annoyed that Pearce has raging man-crushes on Richards and Rose, and how he's playing a right back at centre back while two centre backs sit on the bench.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Looks like Neil Taylor is playing at right back, not Bertrand like I originally thought.
Not much better, mind.

Considering we have no defence, midfield or attack it isnt much of an achievement.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
1-0 to Team GB. Giggs' free-kick is flicked on by Caulker to Bellamy, who hits it into the far corner.
We're playing crap, btw. Offering no penetration whatsoever and just keeping it in our own half.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Two great challenges - one by Caulker, the other by Allen - get us out of a tight situation. Senegal are strong and pacey on the counter.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Sturridge isn't in this game at all. In fact, the whole three hasn't connected with each other or with the midfield. Movement is too static.
We've got players who are good on the ball, but we're just not making any good passing opportunities.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
The Brazil v Egypt game is very good, Neymar has been excellent, is it just me or is he playing the false 9 postition? Oscar has completely vanished in this 2nd half, Neymar is doing all the creating.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Senegal have started the second half the better side. Marvin Sordell has come on for Daniel Sturridge, but it hasn't made much difference. Team GB look a bit tired.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Senegal are flying into challenges. Bellamy was just taken out in the box. No penalty given. Team GB upset.
Joe Allen has gone off injured. Ramsey has come on and has played a couple of really good passes.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Senegal make it 1-1. Ramsey and Giggs mess about with a corner, Senegal break and Konate finishes well.
We haven't been good enough this half.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Final score: Great Britain 1 - 1 Senegal.
Sordell missed a great chance towards the end, we should have had a penalty when Bellamy was taken out and Senegal should have had at least one player sent off, such was their over-aggressive tackling.
Overall, though, we really weren't good enough. The front three looked disconnected with the rest of the team in the first half. Allen, Cleverly and Giggs can pick up the ball and play passes all day, but Bellamy, Rose and Sturridge hardly moved and hardly got involved.
When we did take the lead, Pearce instantly went to defensive tactics, putting every man behind the ball and leaving the striker up there to feed off scraps. It worked for a bit, but against a team you should be beating, at home, it's not good tactics.
It's hard to see us qualifying now. U.A.E. look a good side and they'll trouble us with their pace and trickey, and Uruguay are a better team than us.
