Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Walker is injured (which is why he didn't go to the Euros).
Wilshere is far from fit after not playing for ten months.
It was decided beforehand that eligible players involved in Euro 2012 wouldn't participate in the Olympics, so that ruled out Smalling, Jones, Henderson, Chamberlain, Walcott, Carroll and Welbeck, even if the former two didn't even play. Butland is the exception to the rule, as I imagine there weren't many keepers to choose from.
It is a shame about Bale, but I think we'll manage with Giggs and Bellamy.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
It looks like Uruguay has been lining up like this.
Cabrera_____Rolin__Coates___Polenta
_____________Rios____Rodriguez
Ramirez_______Lodeiro____Urreta
____________Suarez
That was before cavani arrived were probably gonna line up like the same but were gonna stick suarez on a wing and play cavani up top. Abel Hernandez has been beasting in training too so there him. Lodeiro has been absoutly phenomenal, the most outstanding player in training by far. Id like to play this
Cabrera/Aguiregaray_Rolin__Coates__Polenta
_________________Rios_______Lodeiro
Suarez___________Ramirez_____________Hernandez
________________Cavani
but Tabrez willl never playy Lodeiro as a cm, he tried it the opening game of the Copa america and it worked imo, but hes not defensivly strong.
Out of Suarez,Ramirez,Cavani,Abel Hernandez,Lodeiro,Urreta and Viudez only 4 play are gonna start. Id start Suarez,Abel, cavani, and lodeiro and sacrifice Ramirez, urreta and viudez.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Swiss Olympic squad:
Goal: Diego Benaglio (Wolfsburg), Benjamin Siegrist (Aston Villa).
Defense: François Affolter (Bremen), Fabio Daprela (Brescia), Timm Klose (Nürnberg), Michel Morganella (Novara), Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg), Fabian Schär (Wil).
Midfield and attack: Amir Abrashi (Grasshoppers), Valon Behrami (Fiorentina), Josip Drmic (Zürich), Innocent Emeghara (Lorient), Fabian Frei (Basel), Pajtim Kasami (Fulham), Admir Mehmedi (Dynamo Kiew), Alain Wiss (Luzern), Granit Xhaka (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Steven Zuber (Grasshoppers).
No Yann Sommer
(Ah well, I guess he is better off helping FC Basel through the qualification of the CL). Shaqiri wasn't called up either as he prefered to do the full pre-season with Bayern.

Last I heard Thiago had a very very serious injury and was missing the Olympics so not sure if he's good to go already.
The rest are who I would leave out.
---------------De Gea
Apzi---Dominguez------Ignio----Alba
------------Javi---------------
---Thiago/Koke--------Isco-----------
Mata------Adrian-------Munain.
If Thiago can't go Ander should start , thought it really isn't his natural position and he should play as centrally as possible.

Barcelona midfielder Thiago ruled out of Spain's Olympic squad
The Italian-born star, who is the son of Brazilian World Cup winner Mazinho, will not recover from the problem in time to join up with Luis Milla's squad

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Mano is such a dumbass.. No point in having Ganso when you have Oscar... should've called-up Douglas Costa, whose better than the amazing David Copperfield...i mean Lucas Moura, who seems to do disappearing acts during games.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
My only complaint is the CB duo.
Juan and Uvini are shite, he should have called Dedé (since David Luiz is injured) or even Luisao, Miranda, Alex, Dante, Rever, I don't care.

Mano is so blind.. even if he did decide to take only one overage 23 yr old CB, Manoel and Rafael Toloi are both better than Uvini and Juan who are beyond average.
