benzema on the other hand.. well he can stay here unless we get aguero, and in that case id love to see benzem play for arsenal.
i was referring to varane.. the kid is the definition of lanky.

Re: Raphael Varane
Varane just got selected for France's U-19 team lol. They better not get used to him. If he does well in Madrid, he's going straight to the A team... As far as competition, it's going to feel like a joke to him.

Re: Raphael Varane
Wow, He's been nothing short of amazing in Preseason...if I'm not mistaking, only one goal in all of preseason was even remotely his fault (the one in the 7-1 victory) other than that he's been superb in positioning.
Probably was the best in that aspect in preseason, intercepting most passes and attacking plays without even having to get physical or having to chase players, even though his superb physique allows him to do so.

Lol. At least this one actually deserves it from the get go. I had to fight for the other one although he started off as kind of a biatch.

Re: Raphael Varane
L'equipe interview
Former Lens player, Raphael Varnae, 18, who was also courted by Manchester United and Paris-SG said that his first choice for the Spanish club "was quite simple" once he ruled out the English option. The central defender (1.91 m, 85kg) said regarding Paris, "it was not the coach (Antoine Kombouare) that wanted me but the new shareholders; while Jose Mourinho, coach of Real, simply said to me: If you come, it is entirely to be part of the group and not to be a second choice." On his arrival in Madrid, the player retains a strong image: "I leave the plane and there were sixty to seventy journalists. Then I thought, OK, I understand where I've arrived. I'm at Real Madrid." Though immediately compared by the Spanish press to Hierro, star defensive player for Real between 1989 and 2003, Varane admits he was "flattered" by the comparison, but he keeps his head on his shoulders: "They talk about me as a great player when I have proved nothing."
Mourinho has used him a lot during the tour of Madrid in Asia. "I feel like I have already made progress" says the player who sets his objective for the season as "to get as much playing time as possible, without being in a rush." The Portuguese coach, "who has been rather paternal", asked him to "communicate" with his partners on the field and to "try to make a difference on the first pass" to get the offense started. Varane also "regularly" sees Zinedine Zidane, the team manager. The former No. 10 of the France NT gave him this advice: "Do not be timid. Just because you've just played for Lens doesn't mean that you have to be reserved."

"I can't see myself winning a starting berth right away. That isn't possible as I need time to adapt first. I want to get as much playing time as possible, but I'm not in a rush. I'm obsessed with making progress," Varane said to L'Equipe.
"I like my current situation, though. I enjoy a challenge like this. I want to develop and succeed here. You can't say no if you're an ambitious person and get the chance to be part of a project like this. It will be a great adventure for me."

This boy really is something special. Showed maturity well beyond his years. He's the future heart of our defence and I'm looking forward to seeing him develop.

Re: Raphael Varane
Mou is atleast the right person to devolop a CB. He made Marcelo a solid defender, so he isn't clueless at defence. Plus, it's known to be his best area. (He was always the one to handle the defense when he was a assistant coach)

Re: Raphael Varane
You guys are bit overrating him, saying he did no mistakes is false. He did has few amount of mistakes, a mistakes that he can learn not to do in the future instead of ignoring it.
The first goal, he let the attacker get the rebound. that the only mistake that resulted in goal.
In the previous previous match, caravlho saved his ass like 2/3 times. Same in yesterday match where he could have done better marking on 2/3 occasions.
He is very soft on the attackers, he should be more aggressive like pepe and be a tight marker like pique.
His tackling accuracy is amazing, its like garay and pique tackling.

Cut him slack, hes 18 and just moved from a relegation French team to Real Madrid. Hes doing fine, more than fine. In fact, maybe he can be Carvalho's replacement, not Ramos. That can help us in RB in the future...

Re: Raphael Varane
Varane did look good the other night and surprisingly so did Albiol. I doubt though whether this will change Mou mind re Carvalho and Pepe starting. It does however tell Mou that Ramos may not be needed this year at CB.
One of my complaints about Mou is he doesn't use his entire line-up. They all need playing time if they are going to contribute. This past game should tell him he can use more rotation (at least at CB) than he has been using.
