Re: Raphael Varane
Yeah that's why I posted it, thought it was a great achievement, performing like he did in the top League in France as well as keeping up with his studies. Pretty extraordinary.

Re: Raphael Varane
Congrats to Varane. A budding economist, is he? Remember, football isnt everything.
I hope he gets loaned, being 3rd CB backup wont do for him, especially with Coentrao's signing. But how awesome if he somehow gets the no 5 shirt from Gago...

Re: Raphael Varane
oh true, people with back surgery are pretty useless in competition until they are 100% fit.
Higuain got lucky we gave him some treatment before surgery and he recovered faster after. But even now he is far from his best.
Altintop plays roles where he is asked to be a workhorse and without fitness, he is pretty useless.

Meh, I knew he would be useless. I feel sorry for the guy, but I knew something would happen.

Re: Raphael Varane
He could've been treated while he was at Bayern, but he didn't opt for that. We essentially got him knowing his situation, so it's no big problem.

Marca is giving Varane a taste of their special hype campaign. I do hope he is doing good tho, keeps his head down and just works.

Re: Raphael Varane
Well, the new nick name of Varane is Rafa
according to marca reporting on the preseason tour, he is being impressive.
I have a feeling he can put Albiol to shame lol, just because of his athleticism. Albiol is very good and experience, but he always get in difficult situations because he is superslow.
for those of you who can read spanish

Re: Raphael Varane
Yeah, the Rafa was obviously coming.
But, Varane is gonna be starter? Forget it. Not happening, yet.

Re: Raphael Varane
ya it just says how good varane is basically, how he is tall yet so fast. he has gained the respect of other players with his high level of football and so on it build him up and then says that he now has to adapt to his new life which is different to that in lilleThe xcx wrote:Anyone bothering to translate the article? Re: Raphael Varane
Getting praise from Mou and CR7 already... this kid is really surprising me. I truly thought he would struggle early with the transition in class he needed to make. Seems he's really a phenom.

Re: Raphael Varane
i think its not accurate to say varane wont be given chances specially considering the philospohy, the purpose, and who he was brought in by.
we have a sweet defense, mid and attack, but dam altintop would be a good thing to have though.

Re: Raphael Varane
Ok. I know i'm probably getting overexcited here... but i never expected a 18-year old kid with less than one year's professional experience (that's right. He's only played pro ball since November of 2010) to dominate our defense. I mean, he's CLEARLY our best defensive player out there.
Calm, tall, rangy, fast, great feet, great strategic sense... just has it all. He is outclassing everyone except maybe Pepe. But he's already a much headier and strategically aware player than Pepe.
Very, very impressive.

Slowly I will turn everyone
I will hold off until I see him up against some better opposition, but it is very exciting

Ramos on the right.
Pepe and Varane in the middle.
Coentrao on the left.
Deal?

Re: Raphael Varane
im still waiting to see either coentrao or marcelo on the right. It's about time ramos turns CB.
Varane looks very strong, still preseason, ill be cautious, but he owned the first half, while playing next to carv. Albiol will work for play tiime this season.
