A paper plan hitting the Peru manager in the head just got the biggest cheer of the night.

Kind of sums this game up really.

Sterling good player, needs to improve his decision making though.

England play some boring football.

England need to stop using Rooney as a ten. He either leads the line or should not play at all, and at this point I'm all in favour of Sturridge playing up front and Rooney being benched.

We had no sort of shape to our attacks. Rooney was meant to be the link between midfield and attack but rarely got on the ball in front of Peru's defence, while Welbeck and Lallana's roles were unclear. The commentators were praising the fact that those three were rotating, but the way I saw it was that rotation was just confusing things and hindering our build-up, which, in general, was too slow.

If this is the team Hodgson is going to play against Italy then we'll get destroyed. Our defence could barely handle Peru's attack, so I've no idea how it will cope against Italy's attackers that will be picked out by a Pirlo who'll have free reign of the midfield because Rooney will be the one marking him.

Peru had like 9 players getting their debuts today. Struggled this mightily against Peru reserves Terrible match to watch.
