Yes, but Löw really likes Kroos these days (and why wouldn't he?) so I wonder. But he'll probably use Kroos as a Piggy-replacement, meaning neither Bender will play, assuming Kroos will be paired with Khedira.

On the other hand, it is a friendly and I'd love to see Löw experiment with the double-Bender for once Very Happy I guess we have to wait till Feb 29th, to know for sure.

Germany should pretty obviously start Podolski, Muller, Ozil, and Klose up top, but the real question is if Khedira shouldbe starting or if they should throw on another attacker such as Gotze, Kroos, or Reus. I think Schweinsteiger can handle the midfield pregty much by himself, so, especially with Khedira not playing asmuch as he should for Madrid, I think its something to think about. Still though, without a set center defensive pair that are used to each other, I still think Khedira (or Kroos possibly) should be starting next to Schweini, but the more attacking approach would work too.

yea khedira seems like the most reasonable option right now - you just know what you get and he improved at Real as well. It just sucks that there seems to be no place for Goetze right now.

BTW what are we thinking about Tony Jantschke these days?
I don't want to knee-jerk, but I am making this post because of his performance against Ribéry yesterday - he's had a good whole season, though.

Possible future NT player? How consistent do you see the kid? Just riding BMG form, or actually a future fullback of international class?

I think Löw will not be able to avoid calling up some BMG players for the NT in the near future. As how he will develop... I think Jantschke's (and Herrmann's) real test will come if BMG gets into the CL next season.

Well, depending on how much of BMG will be left by the start of next season. They might be a different team altogether, Reus is gone, Dante might be gone, at least two other current starters are on their way out. Yes, they got 17m Reus-money to spend, but they'll have to almost start over. Sad

They all need to go the Arango way and extend :coffee:

Why would you leave when CL football is pretty much a given? I mean with CL money they could further strengthen the squad.

BTW who besides me really wants Lahm to play RB and Schmelzer been given a serious chance at LB for the NT?

Both in red-hot-form yet Löw seems to not like the idea.

That means benching Boateng, though Sad. But yeah, you can't deny how awesome Lahm is at RB.

Schelmzer was extremely meh last time he was given a chance, although he might have just been nervous. Löw should try it out.

I love how the only guy starting most games is Badstuber

While I love me some Boateng, I'd rather have him on the bench than as a fullback.

The title of this thread is clearly stereotyping germans as people who can't learn proper english accent, and thus is offensive to germans, the manschaft and the bundesliga. I demand the thread opener to be downed 25%.

Trolling is a percentage deductable offense, no matter who or what is trolled. I trust the admins to be able to make an informed decision about people's trolling in general. Razz

90% of Goallegacy is trolling. I understand that if you do it with no ill will and humourously there's no point in downing, but German's differ, obviously. Anyway, I leave the offtopic, I just wanted to make the joke about the title.

Hummels is still a given though, no? So I guess it's Hummels and Stubsi for the forseeable future? I wonder what happens if Mertesacker gets fit in time. Hummels to the bench?

(Green smileys are not a proof of sense of humour contrary to Babun's believe. Best humour is subtle and doesn't include green smiley's, like english humour).

You might want to read that bit over and it will tell you why no one finds your constant and predictable snide comments about German football amusing. There was no need to come here and whine because you were punished for trolling.

I'm not going to further lower your warning bar, because you are leaving peaceably, however you are pushing boundaries and I hope you realise that incidents like these are remembered and mean that I'm less likely to be sympathetic in future.

I would like to thank ze Germans for reacting sensibly and getting on with the thread.

Well, Hummels was benched before. But somehow I think that Mertesacker will get ballacked out by Löw in due time so that Badstuber, Boateng, Hummels & Höwedes are the ones left on the CB position (and Boa & Höwedes possibly for the RB position, too).

I guess we'll play a CB as RB before we move Lahm there and give Schmelzer a shot at LB, aren't we? Pity. But I guess Löw is the better judge of player's form than I am - I don't get to see them train.

Well, so far Schmelzer had 5 matches for the NT, and when I remember him playing, he wasn't too convincing there. His 5 CL matches this season (except for Arsenal away) weren't exactly too good either, so internationally he has left a lot to be desired so far.

Yes, he wasn't great at LB, but then again: every other fullback except Lahm has been just as bad, only Jansen had a couple of great games at LB, and he always left a lot to be desired while defending, basically he's the German Marcelo.

I still think moving Lahm to RB and playing Schmelzer at LB is our most defensively sound option. And it leaves us open to utilize Jansen on the left if we want more attacking prowess.
