astori returning home
http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2012/03/15/2969057/ac-milan-agree-7-million-deal-in-principle-to-sign-cagliaris
According to the newspaper, a fee of €7 million has reportedly been sanctioned by Cagliari president Massimo Cellino, while youngsters Rodney Strasser, Rodrigo Ely and Simone Romagnoli could head in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
A contract extension for Alessandro Nesta is also becoming an increasingly complex procedure, as the champions have doubts over his long-term durability at the highest level.
With Juventus also understood to be showing more than just a passing interest in the veteran defender, vice-president Adriano Galliani and sporting director Ariedo Braida have since identified his potential successor in Astori.
A former Milan youth player, Astori left San Siro to join Cagliari in 2008 and has since flourished into an Italy international, having formed impressive defensive partnerships with the likes of Michele Canini and Leandro Ariaudo.
He is also well-acquainted with current Rossoneri boss Massimiliano Allegri, having overseen arguably his best season to date during 2009-10 at the Sardinian club.
Meanwhile, if a move for Astori breaks down, Palermo's Matias Silvestre and Vasco da Gama's Dede are next on Galliani's summer shopping list. Fiorentina stopper Cesare Natali is also being primed to join Milan as a replacement for Mario Yepes.
Milan face Parma on Saturday, with kick-off at Stadio Ennio Tardini scheduled for 17:00CET.

Re: astori returning home
I like the idea giving Astori a chance to play with us .Better late than ever i guess..
However , calling him Nesta's successor ?; it's quite laughable! Let him play a game for Milan first..
We already have Nesta's successor and he is Thiago Silva . ffs 2012 and they still don't get how Milan does it
My opinion is , Astori should come as a replacement for Yepes , but anyway we'll see.
If i had to disagree with something , this would definitely be the other 3 talents going the other way.
Why ffs , why again the same mistakes

I think we'll move for Ogbonna still
Nesta (possibly) and Yepes retiring is a pretty big blow to the Milan defence, its clear as day that we'll need new defenders.

vasanthPato wrote:If these reports linking Milan with Ogbonna are true, it could be promising rumors. Consider Angelo's situation, he's a starter at Torino and the fans love him, fair enough. His defensive qualities are well known, even outside of Italy, and he's quite capable of scoring goals at the other end too. However, he recently got called up for International duty, showing a clear indication of his level of improvement, and this new step can only lead to Ogbonna wanting to hold down a permanent place. This may prove challenging considering he's in the Serie B, and though Torino are likely to be promoted next year, he could want inclusion in a bigger team. Angelo has become accustomed to shrugging off rumors from the likes of Manchester City and Juventus; particularly the latter declaring a hatred for the Turin club rivals. But with this new position, he may find it hard to say no to a club like Milan should they come calling; especially since he's declared he's an Milan fan. Ogbonna's athleticism would undoubtedly be a very attractive aspect to us, and with our connections with Torino through loan deals and co-ownerships, not to mention improving a certain Ignazio Abate, they would be foolish not to attempt it.
I had never really made the connection that Ogbonna plays Torino. Torino and Juve are rivals. Ogbonna wont move to Juve.
If Juve is out of the race for Ogbonna, I cant see many other serious candidates for him. Yeah there's Inter who will be looking for new young talent after Moratti's comments. But if he really is a Milan fan, surely he would reject a move to Inter. And theres Napoli. I think they are our real contenders for Ogbonna but I am yet to read a story about Ogbonna being linked to Napoli so we'll just have to wait and see

Re: astori returning home
We seriously need to sort out the LB issue, god forbid we draw Bayern so Robben can tear the right flank, i think Ogbonna/Santon would be the best solution. Also wouldn't mind Kolarov

If we do decide to move for Tevez, i'm not sure how that would affect a potential Kolarov deal which I expect to not be cheap.

A Serie B defender getting called up for NT
And we need a new defender to replace the old defenders
Why not Ogbonna?

way too young , doubt he got 2 appearances for Italy , still totally unproven in Serie A . He won't even see the field , even if we got him
need i go on

Re: astori returning home
I think his athleticism will convince Allegri to give him playing time.
We can see that the players that work the most, play the most in Max's system.
That's why Boateng, Nocerino, Abate, Silva, Ibra and El Shaarawy shined and Ronaldinho failed

of course . but physical condition alone , obviously , isn't enough . All the players you ve mentioned have much more than physical condition .
In this case , i want to remain entitled in my opinion. He's way unproven.
Let's see him in Serie A , if Torino finally goes up...

Re: astori returning home
I agree with Dante, it isn't worth the risk paying a big sum of Ogbonna who has not proven himself in Serie A yet. I would watch him for another year and go from there. Reading about Juve interest in Nesta really bugs me though, if Galliani does the same mistake and lets him go there, it would be stupid. Yes, Nesta is older and definitely can't play all of next year, but if he does not retire we should re sign him regardless.

Re: astori returning home
Who is the best young CB in the world? Milan should accept nothing less if we want the team to get better. We are losing Nesta - he deserves a replacement that will at least have the potential to fill his absence. Otherwise the CB position will become the new LB at Milan and we will be stuck with a mediocre CB for the next 5-7 years.

All the good CB's are either too old, too expensive or, in terms of a transfer, untouchable (i.e. Pique, Ramos).
