Never saw him play(or at least never cought my eye on him) but he is good in fm 2012, thats good enough for me, Branca go for it

oh I forgot Astori is one of the best defenders in the world

how the hell is he anywhere near Italia quality? the one chance he got he got a red card in seconds and he wasn't even so special. No where even close to Ranocchia, Chiellini, and especially Barzagli.

Agreed however he's not as horrible as you describe it to be. And by the way, you out of all people should know his red card was a big mistake by the referee.

I think he's a poor mans Ranocchia, and I've never been a fan of playing with two CBs who are in the same mold, I think its better to play two people who complement each other

Also I don't think playing at a lower-mid table team like Cagliari is enough to make the jump to Inter...Cagliari's defense isn't exactly one to be feared anyway so I'm not confident in his ability

Well that's like saying we should sign Cesare Bovo or Spolli or Domizzi who in my eyes are all better defenders than Astori.

Just because you're young and Italian doesn't mean you should get overhyped. I swear Italians on this forum are almost as hyped as English players.

He's young, could be good (which I still doubt), but at the moment he's just an average Serie A defender.

Ranocchia on the other hand is beastly but makes too many mistakes and his positioning is awful, I still don't think he's THAT great but he's still better than Astori.

A poor man's Ranocchia? When did Astori ever be compared to a big name? Ranocchia has been refered to as the next Nesta...

You actually watched Cagliari?

I researched him a bit last year and from his stats, you can see that he often has lapses in concentration in the last 30 minutes and it often cost Cagliari.

But hey, that was last season and I haven't been following him, he could very well be an improved player now
