A few words for a legend. . .

This guy embodies the spirit of Liverpool Football Club. He has been the voice of the people & the heart & soul of the team for the last 15+ years. A man who has worked beyond advisories & injuries. Has carried the teams spirit in his heart in everything & anything he did. A scouse who was born a red, bleed red & will forever be one of the greatest men to wear the Red.

Words cannot describe the dedication this man has given for this club. We say that Liverpool Football Club is a lifestyle for him it's his ENTIRE LIFE.

For me he is & will be the greatest believer of our club.

He made me believe what Shanks said . . . .

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that"

Even after the discussions about possible retirement it was still a punch to the gut when I read the news this morning.

It truly is the end of an era.

Had the same exact feeling. Felt like a part of died.

He's been the 'soul' of Liverpool for the last two decades or so.

Next season will be the first time I'll be watching Liverpool without Jamie Carragher in it. It's only just hit me. :X

Legend.

He was touted to be a goalscoring midfielder as a teenager.

Legend, one of the most dedicated men out there.

I miss him

I think at this point we could state that we miss quite a number of defenders that used to play for the club if we go down this road.

Oh please, love the guy to death and he is a legend but he was shit past 2009-10 and wouldn't be much better in the current system than the rest of the scrubs. Leadership would be the only thing he would bring, which probably already would be more than what the current circus brings.

^ Thing is, even when Carra's form went down due to his age, keeping a clean sheet for him was like a live or death. He'd die to keep a clean sheet.

I never forget we were up 2-0 at WBA in 2009 with a couple of minutes to go, and Arbeloa ruined the offside trap and gave WBA a chance to score (I think Reina saved it) and Carra just went nuts at him.

We so lack a defensive character who'd kill for a clean sheet these days. Interestingly, our best defensive record under Rodgers came in second half of his first season when we had a good ol' Agger-Carragher partnership keeping clean sheets in 50% of our games after Skrtel got dropped after THAT GAME at Oldham.
