Goalkeeper

Do you think we should move for a goalkeeper this summer? I think we should, Abbiati isn't getting any younger and he's had a few injuries this season, and alarming sign. Amelia is a reliable backup but we need someone more accomplised, younger and capable to fill the sticks for us. My favourite is Hugo Lloris but I doubt we'll get him. Maybe Ter Stegen, Rafael or Sommer, but I think they're too young for Milan, especially Ter Stegen. Shame we didn't get Diego Alves last season, having a GOAT season with Valencia.

Low chances of getting either. Alves just moved to Valencia and Lloris extended his contract last year. Maybe take a risk in Sommer, the Basel goalkeeper?

Both would cost an absolute s**tload

But just about all goalkeepers cost a lot.

Now that I think about it, i'd go for Lloris. I'm pretty sure he said one time he has a soft spot for Milan? not entirely sure though

Yup he did, and we almost signed him once for 2 million when he was with Lorient but Lyon beat us to him. If we had managed to sign him, we would not be having this discussion.

Even though i want a new GK,preferably WC,i think we will have bigger problems in the summer with some veterans leaving and maybe a Pato move

I have been wondering about getting a new GK for a while but I figured our money is needed elsewhere.

This summer is going to be very interesting. A lot of veterans are going to be leaving, so we have many holes to fill. But I agree, a new young goalkeeper is definitely needed.

I think we should take a look at FC Basel's Yann Sommer. He is 23 and looks quite promising.

We've had our eyes on Samir Handanonvic (spelling?) for a while now, it wouldn't surprise me if we signed him.

Probably not going to get him, but Rui Patrício of Sporting Lisbon would be my first choice.

Buy Tim Howard. He's 32 and Everton need to sell players to stay out of the red so he'd cost like 5-10 million max. Plus he scores more goals than Torres.

But at the end of the day

Quality > Nationality

From all the afforementioned goalies mentioned , right now no one is better than Abbiati on the pitch.

Sirigu & Lloris? those pals shared 8 goals between them in last night's DERBY. that's enough "potential" for me

Akinfeev Most over rated non-european goalie there is out there. No chance Milan would choose that underachiever instead of Abbiati , or even Amelia who is clearly better and more experienced so far .

Ter Stegen Too young , no big club experience and no real silverware to justify his price tag.

Handanovic and Marchetti are good choices , though , they are not better than the bald by any means.

Unless Abbiati & Amelia somehow suddenly fail misserably from now on , i don't see a single reason to look for replacements , for this season and the next . In any case , Roma's leaving and we will have a new goalie from the Primavera next season.

I won't call him anything , but i am not buying it that he's so good like people think he is. Could and should have done more in such an important derby, just like Sirigu .

that we can agree on. Surely not bad , definitely not top. He would be a great replacement or one for the future ,maybe.

In any case , Amelia is a fine replacement for Abbiati as of now. Most teams don't even have a goalie like Amelia as their n1. choice and we have him as an emergency. I still don't get why the forum lacks faith in him , he's very good and with time he will establish himself just like Abbiati.At least me thinks he can

Amelia is 29 though.....I think that getting a cheap young GK (a deal similar to Urby,Nocerino or Mesbah) would be a smart thing to do and see how he does.

honestly though,Abiatti has been really solid,i think he can play for another good 2-4 years
