Yeah I think so. I'll be surprised if we don't play him.

Edit: nevermind, the latest reports are saying that Sabella tried a 5-3-2 and 4-4-2 in practice. The 5-3-2 would see Lavezzi dropped while he might feature in the 4-4-2.

Gago was boss. His passing, range, technique. Europe never saw how good he was. So happy for the former Boca youngster.

Mascherano looking like the player he was at Liverpool. This guy is a pure DM, not a CB for god's sake.

Messi+Higuaín= win. I hope Pipita really thinks about his situation at Madrid at the end of season and decides what is best for Argentina at the World Cup. It is not good seeing some overrated Algerian benching you when you're 10 times better than that shite.

Benzema is being exposed for the player he is at France, while Madrid may be able to survive in spite of a CF that does not run, is not clinical, and stays at the mid-line France can't. Already all his fans are turning on him for his NT performance.

Sabella keeps training witha 5-3-2 according to reports. I imagine it would look something like:

Romero
Zabaleta - Garay - Basanta - Fernandez - Rojo
Gago - Masche - Di Maria
Messi - Pipita

Why'd this get merged?

Anyway, I saw a couple more angles of the penalty and I'm not so sure it was a penalty anymore.

So that we don't discuss the Bolivia match in 2 separate threads

Also so we keep winning the war of most active NT thread Twisted Evil

@Batigol yeah you're right, Palacio for Pipita, at least I hope it's Palacio and not Di Santo Laughing

Edit: The rumored team is actually:
Romero
Peruzzi - Fernández - Garay - Campagnaro - Rodríguez
Banega - Mascherano - Di María
Messi - Palacio

Seems like a significant step down from Venezuela to me.

Federico Fernandez did not fly to Bolivia due to his amount of yellows and Sabella wants him to play vs Colombia.

Okay now seriously wtf. Not that I think he's great or anything but I think he has developed a good connection with Garay. If reports are to be believed and Sabella is not trolling us, we will play with a 5-3-2 with a completely make-shift defense of Peruzzi - Garay - Campagnaro - Dominguez/Basanta - Clemente. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of playing with an extra defender? I'm sure whatever marginal gain reached by that extra body will be completely nullified by the fact that this defense has never played together before.

I'm not against trying out new tactics and recognize the important of being tactically flexible but I don't think the 5-3-2 is a good secondary formation for us. I understand the tactical benefits of it, and I understand that Sabella has used it before to good results with Estudiantes, but it simply adds an extra average player on the pitch (our third choice CB) at the expense of a very good player (a forward).

Our eleven vs Bolivia looks significantly more average than vs Venezuela. I'm a fan of Peruzzi, but Zabaleta is having a great season. I'm not a fan of Clemente (or Rojo) and can see why Sabella would prefer him in this role since it's more of a WB than LB which is exactly what Clemente is rather than Rojo who plays CB for his club. In any case if we were to play a WB and Sabella knew this before the call-ups, why didn't he call Ansaldi? Was he dissatisfied with his performance in the previous call-up? I also strongly suspect the fact that Peruzzi and Clemente have faced altitude in the libertadores is influencing Sabella, and that might be a gamble that pays off, but the difference in quality is significant.

I'm not saying that we'll lose vs Bolivia or anything like that, but I do have concerns about the tactical make up of this game.

Yeah I agree BC, I dont know if changing tactics is the way to go. I guess we just have to trust what he thinks will make the team work better against this opposition. But look at our away game in peru we didnt play well so maybe another set up away can be good for the team.

and mole it has been good when the rest of the team is good, but if the midfield doesnt have a grip on the match then the defense suffers when pressured. At the end of the venezuela match they were coming at us and we looked shaky, even 3 nil up

The midfield was missing the beautiful man in my avatar badly. The inexperience together in defense was very apparent. Bolivia were all over us. But again I think the altitude was the biggest factor. We also had almost no width in attack most of the game and when we did it turned out pretty well for us, mostly in the form of a couple clemente crosses one which led to the goal. Credit to Bolivia they played well but we didn't have the same team and we lacked the ball winning by our forwards that we had against Venezuela. I think Bolivias keeper was MotM, Di Maria our best player with Iker Romero our second best player.

We didnt deserve more than a point and now we must beat Colombia in Rosario.
