Apparently Basanta got called up with the Bolivian height in mind as he has a lot of experience of dealing with that in Mexico. I'm interested to see what he can contribute. He was also elected as either their footballer of the year or defender of the year a few years ago and the Mexicans wanted him to play for their NT.

this is a real test for the team, I'm confident about the Venezuela game although they are a very good side, it is at home where we play best. If we can get three points the team can gain confidence for the game in La Paz. our defense will have to perform. Yeah I believe Basanta can play central, lateral or even a little bit further forward on the left like a wingback.

Anyway, who knows, maybe Rojo will perform, he did play pretty well in one recent game I remember but he got taken off injured.

I wanna see play from the start... he's been playing really nice for Inter and I really wanna see him do the same for Argentina...

I havent seen all that much of montillo tbh but he is highly regarded in brazil. I think he is more of a direct and incisive player and more of a 10 than banega.

I'd have liked to see Palacio as well but in the end it was lavezzi or palacio and either one is a great option I think Lavezzi was chosen because he has had more time in the team. I could see him coming on as a sub though

indeed, that is a good point. It seems Sabella views Banega as an option for Gagos role, rather than Di Marias, which makes sense.
