Re: Pep Guardiola
In the 9 years of the great AC Milan teams Sacchi lasted 4 years and Capello 5. So 4-5 years is about as long as a normal manager wants to stay with a team that is required to win all the time. It would be unusual if Pep stayed much longer actually. Long term managers only work in England, but even there Ferguson and Wenger are out of the ordinary in terms of years at the club and Arsenal does not have to win that much or at all. They can come in 3 or 4 and the fans seem happy enough to go to the CL.
I like Pep, a real gentleman.
ManU is a different story, but Fergiedoesn't get stresed out I guess.

One of the few posts worth reading.
I would also mention Cruyff who was at Barca for 8, but after 6 was trying to get out and coach Holland before talks broke down. Not surprisingly Barca did not win La Liga or the European cup after that 6th year.
Even further back, Rinus Michels left after 6 years at Ajax.
Great sides like these, coaches just cannot go on for long. Its a pattern.

Messi wouldn't go to the press conference. He didn't want to show emotion for the world to see. He stayed at home and ate BK.

Re: Pep Guardiola
He was suffering from an excessive amount of pressure. In terms of pressure, you cannot eclipse what Guardiola has had to suffer. The fans are demanding, and there are Catalan nationalists, who had even more pressure. Teams such as Manchester United and Manchester City don't face the same pressure, in my opinion, and in comparison it's a walk in the park for the English clubs. That is also partially down to there being two teams in La Liga and the rest.
This does mark an end of an era for Barcelona. Guardiola is a brilliant strategist, who can safely say that he was mostly responsible for getting the best out of Messi. His handling of Deco and Ronaldinho, who were starting to degrade the team in more ways than one, was fantastic and professional. I strongly doubt Messi would be the player he is had Guardiola not taken over, there would have not been a meteoric rise for the little Argentine. The way he has utilised him as a false number 9 is one of the main reasons Messi is at the top. The tiki-taka system was amazing to watch, was perfectly executed, I loved watching Henry, Eto'o and Messi cause so much havoc, and Iniesta and Xavi with their mesmeric passing.
It's no even the effect he's had on the team that has had me amazed, but the effect he has had on the whole game. You have teams like Swansea, who have adopted a similar style. Even if a team isn't playing the tiki-taka style, you have a couple of players linking up more with each other, with one touch passing, which is great to see.
I can see him managing Arsenal and even Manchester United. His handling of youth is what got me attracted to him in the first place, and I believe he can take Arsenal to further heights. It's perfectly set up for him at Arsenal, too. With Manchester United, he could implement a completely different style and start using youth, it's going to be great to see what he does, regardless of where he goes. That's the most beautiful aspect of his departure, if there is one. However, I wouldn't rule out a move back to Barcelona in the not so distant future.

Re: Pep Guardiola
According to Goal.com, Ibra has basically said to Berlusconi that if Pep came, he would leave Milan.
I wouldn't risk it, finding a good manager is easier than replacing Ibra.

Re: Pep Guardiola
I never meant or said a coach like Pep, but good coach + Ibra is easier than Pep + trying to get expensive Ibra replacement and not getting who you want.
