Re: Pep Guardiola
Not necessarily, but new coach means more adapting time for the club. I just hope Bielsa stays with Bilbao. That club has so much to offer and it would be a delight to see them grow together.BAYERN_MUNICH wrote:Downfall of Barca ?
On the other hand, Barca knew of Pep's departure and they had plenty of time to prepare an alternative choice.

Re: Pep Guardiola
No matter who you are you have to admit that Pep did an almost perfect job at Barca for the four years he was there.
Goodbye and good luck Josep.

Re: Pep Guardiola
Guardiola stepping down immediately. Tito to take over for the interim.
EDIT: Mistranslated. Vilanova will take the reigns from the beginning of next season.

"Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa (10-3) is the favourite, but William Hill have former Chelsea gaffer André Villas-Boas installed as second favourite at 5-1, while Stan James have France manager Laurent Blanc as low as 8-1. Other eye-catchers: Luis Enrique 13-2, Joachim Lowe 12-1, Eusebio Sacristan 14-1 and - no sniggering at the back please - Mark Hughes 16-1."

Re: Pep Guardiola
This is a massive blow for Barcelona,no matter how they look at it.
I dont know how good tito vinalovo is but if he isnt as good as Pep guardiola who is one of the best coahces in the world it will definitely reflect on their performance no matter how much player quality they have.

Except, clearly, the team is NOT there. I thought that was evident when they had to bring a retired Paul Scholes backAdit wrote:would you say the same if fergie step down?

Fergie has infinitely more influence at United than Pep has at Barcelona

Plus there is the whole "You were just the assistant coach Tito don't get too big for you boots" attitude he might get from some players.

The change in manager will change teams, often great teams go down and bad teams improve with new managers. But Villanova is from the inside and was the tactician for Guardiola, so maybe they will not go down like Inter.

Re: Pep Guardiola
They are winning EPL and have average age of squad close to Arsenal if not smaller.Lex wrote:Except, clearly, the team is NOT there. I thought that was evident when they had to bring a retired Paul Scholes backAdit wrote:would you say the same if fergie step down?

They had to bring paul scholes when fletcher took a break from football and cleverley got injured for 6 months, and again he is just one player.Barca also has to replace some players namely Puyol,Abidal etc btw.
No matter how you look at it.Player quality isnt everything,if tito vinalova isnt as good as pep,it will show.

Only worried about this to be honest. Although it depends on how he was projected by Pep.
