Lewis Holtby is a CAM, by the way. And a very promising one, at that.

If, and it is a big if, we did manage to sigh Holtby, Suarez and Podolski AND kept hold of Song, Walcott and van Persie than that's a squad that should be aiming higher than a simple top four finish.

Challenging for the title takes more than quality but certainly, if you added those players to the squad it would at least have the quality and strength in depth to compete for major honours.

But let's not get too ahead of ourselves. The Podolski is still yet to be finalised, after all, and the contract situations of certain players are far from resolved. Plus I can't see that many players coming in without a few leaving, and we know that'll be difficult because of their wages.

I would agree so if we're able to sell off some of the players, right now Park & Charmakh hardly ever seen the pitch, there's no guarantee Suarez will be different. I don't see the point of Vertonghen unless we want back up for both CB & DM, he's too good to be back up tbh. To bring in any player this summer require careful personnel management on our part, otherwise we might end up with too big of the squad and blessed with players like Squilaci & Almunia who eat up wage bills and do absolutely nothing. We might have to sell players we don't want to.

There are Bendtner, Vela & Campbell, the later might be able to go on loan but the others need to be sorted out soon. Like I said, big summer ahead to balance the squad.

Not sure what's happened with Park but the only reason Chamakh doesn't see the pitch anymore is because he's simply not that good. Difficult to say if Matias Suarez would turn out the same way, but it'd be hard not to be better than those two. I'd suspect he'd only be a squad signing, anyway.

We can definitely fit three new attackers in if we sell (or if necessary, loan) Arshavin, Vela, Bendtner, Park and Chamakh and loan out Miyaichi and Campbell (who might need to be loaned because of work permit issues anyway). That would leave Walcott (if we don't sell him because of his contract situation), Gervinho, Chamberlain, Podoslki, Suarez and van Persie (again, if we don't sell) as our attackers.

And if we add Holtby or another CAM into the mix, then that would leave us with him and Ramsey for that role, Wilshere and Arteta for the other CM role and Song and Coquelin for the DM role.

Yeah like you said if we're able to sell players, you just list 5 of them which are not so desirable in the market right now. We had the same problem last summer when we couldn't get a move on proper replacement since we couldn't sell early in transfer window. But yeah as long as the squad number is around 25-27, we should be able to add in any player we want. You still need to add in Diaby, Rosicky & Frimpong for midfield.

but you are still signing kids that are untested in the deep waters of a title race at the highest level. it's added depth more than anything, and the hope that those kids perform accordingly.

Awesome, How about we look for a proven and trusted player for our starting X1. Not another kid with potential. Besides we just signed Einsfeld and he can not even get a number for the reserves. I do not think that Rosicky can play 80% of a full season and Ramsey should not see the pitch again as a CAM unless it is the reserves.

Oh yea and we need a LB.

wait wait, there's a big difference between Holtby and Eisfeld. Holtby has a few years of first team experience and is proven whereas Eisfeld was stuck in the reserves. Holtby doesn't have milk on his breath anymore....

not to mention he has english roots

and LB? maybe for bench depth... Santos and Gibbs are there and we have at least 3 other guys that can cover if those two are out

Why are we linked with Vertonghen now..? He always wanted to join Arsenal.. We could have signed him last season but Wenger opted for Santos.. Dont see chance of us signing a first choice Lb when we have already two.. And if its CB we just gifted Djurou a 4 year contract.. And Miquel waiting for chances..
