Swiss Ramble summarises:
#AFC Interims (6 months to 30 November 2012) profit before tax £17.8m (2011 £49.5m), profit after tax £14.9m (2011 £38.0m).
#AFC Interims profit before tax of £17.8m (2011 £49.5m) split: football £15.6m (2011 £48.9m) and property development £2.2m (2011 £0.6m).
Main reason for £34m fall in #AFC football profit is lower profit on player sales £43m (2011 £63m) & match day revenue £38m (2011 £46m).
#AFC Interims player sales £43m mainly RVP and Song, while previous year £63m included Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy.
#AFC Interims results: excluding property profit £2m and profit from player sales £43m, AFC actually made a loss of £27m before tax.
#AFC Interims revenue £138.4m (2011 £116.7m) split between football £106.1m (2011 £113.5m) & property £32.3m (2011 £3.2m).
#AFC Interims revenue: match day £37.8m (11 £46.0m), broadcasting £40.1m (11 £40.6m), commercial £27.7m (11 £26.6m), loans £0.6m (11 £0.4m).
#AFC Interims results: cash balances still high £123m. Lower than May (£154m), due to timing of season ticket renewals.
#AFC Interims gross debt cut to £246m (May 2012 £253m), while net debt worsens to £123m (May £99m) due to lower cash of £123m (May £154m).

Many look at #AFC £123m cash balance and assume that it’s all available for transfers, but it’s not quite that simple, due to many factors.
1. Seasonal nature of cash flows, e.g. May balance high due to season ticket renewals, but used to pay annual expenses, including wages.
2. As part of their bond agreements, #AFC have to maintain a debt servicing reserve (£24 million in Interims).
3. Similarly, #AFC also have to maintain a small reserve of £1.2m that is restricted to use for the Queensland Road property development.
4. Outstanding transfer fees – at Interims #AFC owed other clubs £31.6m, but were in turn owed £31.4m by other clubs.
5. Contingent liabilities (£7.8m), where transfer payments are made based on conditions being met, such as no of #AFC 1st team appearances.
6. Timing of cash from property development: #AFC interims mention £20m from Queensland Rd “receivable in instalments over a 2 year period”.
7. Timing of Emirates sponsorship cash: new #AFC deal is frontloaded with talk of £30m being made available this summer.
8. Most transfers are funded by stage payments, so #AFC would not necessarily need all the cash upfront.
9. In addition, #AFC could easily take on some additional debt, given the strength of the balance sheet.
10. #AFC also need to fund new signing’s wages, but partially offset by departure of existing players (Arshavin, Squillaci, Fabianski, etc).
11. That said, #AFC wage bill will be hit by improved contracts for the “Brit Pack” (Wilshere, Walcott, Gibbs, Ox, Rambo, Jenko).
12. However, #AFC (like other clubs) will benefit from much higher Premier League TV deal from 2013/14.

It's been like that for years. We've been heavily reliant on the money from player sales because our commercial income was inadequate and we haven't helped ourselves by spending unwisely or player salaries.
With the new sponsorship and TV deals coming into play we should, hopefully, be seeing less reliance of profit made from player sales, although it'll be interesting to see how we fare without the money from being in the Champions League.

Re: Arsenal Finance Thread
At this point, I think Sagna will probably be the only major departure in the summer, which is still one departure too many, but it wouldn't be as bad as the Cesc or van Persie sales. Wilshere's going nowhere. Our board's not great but they're not actively looking to sell anyone and they and Wenger will tell any interested clubs to eff off.

Because you have 99m in the bank don't mean its available to spend on players.
By that logic we have over 100m to spend on transfer fees....
Something that needs to be said and a lot of people don't seem to understand.
If you spent all that the club would have no money and no one is stupid enough to do that.

If I had to guess our budget for transfers this summer, I'd say enough to actually buy enough players with. Or, in other words, nobody has a clue, and we should all be weary of what newspapers and Internet Bullshit Artists have to say on the matter.
Let's be frank, we could have £100mil to spend, but it'd mean jack all if the manager decides not to spend it.

its not like we dont need to sell someone.. But like there is hardly someone to sell who will fetch us some decent cash except Wilshere..REWB wrote:do you think we are going to lose a profit next year? who are we going to sell? i mean there is wilshere but....we all know what would happen if the board decided to sell wilshere. i predict there would actually be riots and i feel that people would actually protest SERIOUSLY by not coming to the stadium anymore. i cant see the board ever selling wilshere. so who else? sagna? maybe but how much would psg be willing to pay? 10mil? would it be worth it selling him? i dont think so imo, he is important. ahh but then again, the new pl deal next season will help out. so finally this summer, it seems we wont need to sell anyone.

Re: Arsenal Finance Thread
Last week I estimated how much English clubs would earn from the 2018/19 Champions League. Today I take a look at this season’s Europa League revenue for Arsenal and Chelsea #AFC #CFC
— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) May 13, 2019
Although total Europa League revenue has significantly increased (by 40%) in 2018/19, two points are worth noting: (a) this is lower than the 54% Champions League increase; (b) the impact of the new UEFA coefficient (though only 15% of total distribution, compared to 30% in CL). pic.twitter.com/ZRs7ldORnm
— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) May 13, 2019
As a result, both #AFC and #CFC are estimated to earn less than last year. #CFC is obvious, as they were in the Champions League in 2017/18, but #AFC is due to the impact of UEFA coefficient & TV pool. As it stands (prior year in brackets):#AFC €36m (€38m)#CFC €40m (€65m) pic.twitter.com/dSLtNQWMUo
— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) May 13, 2019
#AFC Europa League revenue is €36m for reaching the final, down from €38m last season.
— Swiss Ramble (@SwissRamble) May 13, 2019
Includes: participation €2.9m, prize money €14.3m, UEFA coefficient €3.4m and TV pool €15.6m.
If they win the final, they will earn an additional €4m, bringing their total to €40m. pic.twitter.com/x8ZyPr1zTc
