Not to be Mr. Obvious but Dani is quite young himself at 25. Unless he is lying. Also, wasn't Michael highly inconsistent and had tendencies of not motivating himself for several matches?

Only say him coming down to the end so for those who really saw him, what was he like?

Laudrup wasnt unmotivated, he just didnt go the extra mile that sometimes you need. He was content in doing just enough if that makes sense.

His style....it was sort of Xavi-like passing mixed Iniesta-like dribbling in a taller frame and playing closer to goal.

Yeah I remember his style, just can't remember seeing him all that often. Watching football or tv that doesn't involve cartoons at a really young age is something that doesn't stay with me apparently...

Laudrup was a beast no question. According to Cruyff though he never went the extra mile in training, was always in cruise control. I guess that was just who he was.
