He has stated multiple times he is a Real Madrid fan which is why I knew he wouldn't come to Arsenal if there was a buy out fee. He knows he just has to wait for Alonso to get a bit older.

It is not a bad deal for Liverpool. They are getting a quality player for one season. He will do much much better than Adam or spearing in midfield. Of course building a team around Sahin will not be ideal but if they can get a similar player in style to Sahin next summer it is worth a try.

Did you speak with Xabi Alonso before you decided to come here?
Yes, of course. A lot of times. Xabi is a person who really cares about football. He's in love with football. I'm the same, and that's why we had a lot of conversations. When I arrived at Real Madrid, we spoke about German football and Italian football. He likes football! When he heard Liverpool were interested in me, he started telling me about Liverpool. He is still in love with Liverpool Football Club, I think! It's crazy how he was telling me about Liverpool. He was saying, 'Go there, you will love it. The fans will take care of you and love you' and things like that. He said Anfield is the best stadium in the world. Xabi won a lot of trophies here, and hopefully we can do that too.

"I am happy to be here and I am looking forward to playing for Liverpool," Sahin told the club's official website.
"It makes me proud to have joined such a big club like Liverpool Football Club.
"After the first conversation we had, I was left impressed by Brendan Rodgers. He told me about how he wants to play football and what the goals are he wants to reach with Liverpool.
"I am looking forward to meeting the fans. I hope it will be a nice year with trophies."
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is confident that Sahin, who was the Bundesliga's Player of the Year in 2010/11, will fit into his style of play.
Rodgers said: "We are delighted to welcome Nuri to Liverpool and also to say thank you to Real Madrid for loaning us such an exciting talent.
"Nuri Sahin is a player with great technique and motivation and someone who will fit in smoothly to our playing model.
"We welcome Nuri into the Liverpool family and wish him good luck in his efforts to make us successful in our future."

Tony Barrett is an actual "ITK" when it comes to Liverpool... he does have knowledge from inside. I trust him more than anyone else. BBC also agrees with him.
It's 5m to Sahin for his wages. Not a 5m initial fee to RM + wages.

We still need a finisher though.
Wouldn't surprise me if we sign Lucas Barrios as he's forcing a move out of China so we'd get him for cheap. He would suit Rodgers' styte also.

His wages are probably out of this world. But if he comes for anything under £5mill and decent wages then a 2/3 year contract wouldn't be too ridiculous. He's still 27/28, so he can give us a solid 2/3 years.

If he's forcing out a move I'm certain it'll be for football and not for money.
He would give us more time than someone like KJH anyway. He's also played similiar to what Rodgers wants to implement with Dortmund.
Would also meet up with Sahin.

Shouldnt you at least wait to see how Borini does before you go buying someone else?
Also re: Sahin, never really watched him but if what they say is true I think he is a great pickup and will compliment Allen (Who I rate highly) very well

He's been playing more wide for us (even though he's favoured position is up top) so Barrios won't steal his position.
If anything, signing a player with Barrios' movement will help Borini settle in as Downing is way too static.
It'll be something like:
Borini Barrios Suarez
with all three changing positions with their smart movement.

Even with Borini, we still need another striker (Assuming Carroll will be sold).
So far Borini has played much better when played as CF, as opposed to LF.
His runs are very intelligent, still kind of rusty in front of goal, but he gets into great positions.
Against Heart, he beat the offside trap 4 times, but the linesman rose his flag all those times, while the replay showed he should have been allowed to be 1 vs 1
@ynwa....ridiculous to get Barrios. If we are buying a striker, he has to be a proven goal machine. Barrios isn't that type.

Re: Nuri Sahin - Borussia Dortmund #18
Barrios has 1 in 2 and knows how to move. He's the closest thing we'll get to someone like Benzema and Remy too.
Suarez will also move to to the right where he's best played.
Those three would bring in the goals.
We're relying way too much on Suarez right now. He's much better when he runs towards the goal and having the freedom to roam instead of receiving the ball and having his back to it. Coming up against two physical CB's is also a problem. We need to get him away from the CF position to get goals out of him at the moment. Barrios will do that.
And no, we're not signing KJH.

39 goals in 83 matches for Dortmund, 49 in 53 for Colo-Colo, and 26 in 39 for Cobreloa.
That's a very good strike rate in Chile, and roughly a goal every two games rate in the Bundesliga. Hardly profligate.
