Lets see if we can continue with our terrific run of form and get a good result at a ground that we always seem to struggle at.Montella will be out to prove a point this weekend you can be sure if that if I was him I wouldn't be any different.

I hope Rosi is finally ready. If not, then Angel in at LB at Taddei switched over to the right. I think the only doubts are going to be Simplicio/Gago and Bojan/Borini.

Stekelenburg has been amazing, such a brilliant goalkeeper.

Stekelenburg
Rosi - Heinze - Kjaer - Angel
De Rossi
Pjanic - Gago
Lamela
Totti - Borini

Roma is a project, this team will constantly evolve to a philosophy that has been determined by Enrique, Sabatini and Baldini and to me, Taddei at right back goes against everything professed in this philosophy. He is a poor defender, old and declining and offers nothing to the future. Sure Rosi may be even more suspect on the ball, but I rate him as a better tackler and as a true right back and not right midfielder, Rosi would also be tactically better and better in a positional sense also. A purchase is needed and my recommendations are either Gregory van der Wiel or Vedran Corluka. Both are competant right backs and would be long term solutions.

I think Juan's time at Roma is up and again, if Roma want to stick to their project, philosophy Kjaer should be ahead of Juan in the pecking order. Angel should be picked again for the same reason.

Gago over Simplicio simply because I don't rate Simplicio...

Lamela at treq. before Totti because I believe a treq. needs to be mobile, quick, technically able and fit. Totti has one of those qualities, Lamela has them all. Totti is also better in the box and a better finisher than Lamela. Borini only viable partner. Osvaldo will be missed.

Taddei being deployed at right back has been only due to Rosi's injury, from which he is still recovering. Enrique has favored Rosi whenever he's been available. Angel, well he still has a lot of adaptation to do so splitting game time between him and Taddei is not an issue, especially since Taddei has been playing extremely well as a fullback. Yes this is a long term project, but that doesn't mean shoving all our youngsters on the pitch at once. It takes time, as you said the team has to evolve, so the experience that Taddei brings is nothing but a plus imo.

As for the attack, what's written on paper doesn't matter. Totti's role has been defined; he's going to naturally drop back and play as our trequartista because he's the only one that could keep the team constantly ticking. He always drops back, gains possession and re-distributes the ball, often playing in whoever makes a run forward. That's what the "classic trequartista" does... sadly, there's no more of those in circulation these days. Lamela is a different type of player, his dribbling skills and flair are eye-catching, but he isn't what you would call a real trequartista, which is what this team needs at the moment to be creative. Totti was very missed during his absence about a month ago, not only because we lacked quality finishers in the box (Osvaldo, Bojan, Lamela all know how to finish well enough), but because there was a lack of creativity in midfield. Pjanic couldn't do it all himself, understandably. Totti may not be getting as many scoring opportunities as he's been used to in recent years, but he's been nonetheless fundamental in reverting back to his old role as a real trequartista.

The only reason Taddei is playing as a fullback is because he's one of our better players at defending he works his ass off,ofc we would prefer a proper RB but LE seems content with him atm in that position until Rosi comes back.

Juan has been brilliant the past 3 or 4 games for us,while anytime Kjaer has played this season he has always looked very suspect at the back, very clumsy not great on the ball even tonight he was poor especially in the first half,so Juan >>> Kjaer imo.

Bojan needs to become a sub again, that way he will score.

Also Totti has the passing ability to play at trequartista, which Lamela can't produce on a consistent basis enough to really overcome Totti in that position. Both of Lamela's goals today came from Totti assists.

Agreed. Lamela is extremely talented, but his passing is not up to the same standard as Totti's. All you have to do is watch the games that Totti was absent for to see that we really lacked the final ball in the final third. Lamela's dribbling is great to see though. He's been moved around quite a bit by Enrique, I prefer when he plays on the left where he seems more comfortable. He's given the freedom to start from deep as well and, when he teams up with Totti on the counter, is very capable of creating something special.

Completely agree with Er Pupone, Borini has the potential to be really great IMO. Bojan needs to start off the bench, and Juan>Kjaer but we should still give Kjaer half the playing time for him to get a stable footing because he also has good potential to eventually substitute Juan.. Totti trequartista and Lamela in front, no doubt.

Agree Borini >> Bojan.

Bojan only plays good as a sub.

I guess that's it for the match...Fantastic first half, chances all around the pitch.

We should have had a PK imo on Rosi's first venture into the box.

Nice corner by Totti, DDR with a superb finish.

I love DDR, but this contract situation is starting to sour me on him... If he is sold at the end of the month, or even worse leaves on a free I will be really, really upset.

Kjaer needs more game time, he looks pretty awful out there. Juan looked rather stiff. (probably due to conditions)

Who would have thought Heinze would be the glue holding together our backline...

Taddei continues to impress...

Catania-Roma date set
By Football Italia staff

The Week 18 Serie A game between Catania and Roma will be completed on February 7, it has been confirmed.

The tie was abandoned earlier this month after heavy rain made the playing conditions impossible at the Stadio Massimino.

The match will resume from minute 65 with the score set at 1-1.

Right, I'm not sure exactly what the rules are. Because I remember a match against Bologna last season that was postponed and we started a different lineup.

I'm not entirely sure on the rules of this either but if we have any players who are injured going into this match and had started it only then are we aloud change, but I'm nearly 100% sure Totti won't be allowed to play any part because he started that match and was subbed.
