They are not comparable, what matters most is the timeslot and night ratings when you consider if something has succeeded or flopped. That is true that Simon had too big estimations on the ratings.

well x factor here was also number one on time slot and night ratings but the views were alot lower than previous year for example just last year they got up to 18 mill views compared to this season

Simon had put a number he wanted to achieve and he didnt achieve it... he wanted to eclipse american idol and he didnt succeed... maybe next year probably

I was talking about US show, it was the first season. This season of XF UK was probably worse season in reality tv in any country in history.
