Doesn't seem like something he would say.
Losing the national armband, to Kompany of all people, has got to hurt. But I thought he played LB for country too?
Anyway, with Per out now, and Gibbs back and Jenkinson around the corner, and Santos back soon, he can play with Koscielny in the middle. Hopefully, Gibbs can stay fit till Santos is back in the squad.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Podolski disillusioned with "disappointing" Koln
"I was told that the club wanted to build a team around me that would be among the top eight in the league before then establishing itself in the top six," he told Bild am Sonntag, "and I committed myself to the move [to Koln] because I wanted to be a part of that project.
"Christoph Daum once said that much has been promised and little delivered - I find myself that that has been confirmed.
"If you look at the proposals that were shown to me and what has ultimately come out of them - it is very disappointing.
"You try every year to move forward but we never get anything other than a relegation battle, which is bitter.
"I hoped for something else, because the conditions allow for much more: the stadium and fans are unique."

The original interview with Vermaelen, who says he is "frustrated" at playing left back, because he doesn't feel it's his best position, but insists that he'll play there if he has to.
Bit different to "fed up".

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stressed the necessity of his side scoring an away goal ahead of their Champions League last 16 first-leg tie against AC Milan on Wednesday.
The Premier League outfit finished top of their group in the competition, only losing once, but were drawn against arguably the strongest runners-up in the shape of the Italian giants, who finished second to Barcelona.
The Gunners will travel to San Siro in the first of the two clashes, and their boss has insisted that they need to score an away goal to have the best chance of progressing, adding that they will stick to their usual attacking style.
The Frenchman told reporters: "The European system is organised to reward audacious action away from home.
"When you go away in the Champions League, you have to score.
"The best way to score is play in an offensive way and we will try to do that."
Wenger's squad has been boosted by the return to match fitness of Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs, giving some much-needed strength to the defence, and the 62-year-old is content with his options.
"I have plenty of options and I am happy with the way the defence works," Wenger added.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Arteta on his deeper role in Arsenal's midfield:
"I watch the game from behind [the attackers] and I know that when we become too open we leave many spaces and concede goals.
"I just try to balance the team a little bit.
"Sometimes I would like to go forward more, but I've still had chances and the goal [against Blackburn] was my sixth this year, which isn't bad.
"I don't want to be the main man; we all know who the main man is and that's Robin. He is the leader, he is the one who makes a real difference.
"The most important thing is the team, and once the team is doing well the highlights will come for the rest [of the players] because we are playing well.
"Everyone is part of a machine and we are all just trying to make the machine work as well as we can."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is demanding an immediate return from the African Nations Cup for Gervinho - even if they win it.
Wenger has told striker Gervinho that he expects him back in England on Tuesday – giving him one day to party – to prepare for next Saturday’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Sunderland.

Re: Arsenal Lobby
Thierry Henry says scoring the winner it what is almost certainly his final league appearance for Arsenal made him feel like he was a child again.
The 34-year-old Frenchman marked the last Barclays Premier League appearance of his loan spell from the New York Red Bulls with an injury-time winner at the Stadium of Light to rekindle memories of his glory days with the Gunners.
Henry is eligible to play in Wednesday night's Champions League clash with AC Milan in Italy before heading back to the United States the following day.
He will do so having written a new chapter in his love affair with the club.
Henry told BBC Sport: "Just like a kid who came on and scored his first goal for the team he loves, that's exactly how I felt, really like a kid.
"When it comes to Arsenal, I always feel something special. At the end of the day, I was there at the end of the move, but I just want to help.
"That's all I wanted to do. I said it right from the start - I didn't want to be a hero or whatever, just like one of the guys in the dressing room."
Henry struck in the first minute of injury time, turning fellow substitute Andrey Arshavin's cross past keeper Simon Mignolet from close range to complete a dramatic fightback.
However, the striker played down his role.
He said: "When you come on as a sub, you want to help your team and change the game anyway, anyhow, and it did happen.
"A lot of the time, the guy who puts the ball in the back of the net will always get the credit, but the cross from Andrey Arshavin was perfect.
"You can always miss, but it was going to be very difficult to miss that one, so you have to give him a lot of credit for that one.
"I was just there at the right time and I finished it, so that's the most important thing.
"Obviously, I stayed a bit longer with the Arsenal fans at the end because I knew it was the last game for me in the Premier League, so I just wanted to say, 'Thanks, that's it'."
