What is happening to me?
All my idols are old, past it, or either retired. The superstar's of today doesn't really set me alight in the same way once. I don't feel the same excitement. I think i am slowly becoming lesser and lesser interested in football. The game has become boring for me, or either i am growing up. could be both. I don't know exactly what it is. It just doesn't feel the same way for me anymore,
Anyone else feeling this way?

I feel a bit the same! I remember watching Ronaldo when I was a kid and just being super excited. Or with Zidane too, along with some others. I guess we've just grown up and everything doesn't seem as magical as before

I think for most of us we have the same feeling, football is not what it used to be.

Re: What is happening to me?
its natural for some to feel such ways. maybe there was something to you in a past era that you find lacking in this one, and it dissapoints u so much that you get dis-attached from it.

Imagine being anything other than a Celtic or Rangers fan following the Scottish league. How monumentally tedious and soul draining that must be

Re: What is happening to me?
That's when you start opening horizons and watch football from other places. Hate the Bundesliga? Watch it. Think the PL is an overrated turd league? Watch a few games. And so on. From what I gather you mostly watch Serie A, correct? Go ahead and watch something else, you will find some entertaining players or just a club you like you can feel you can support. Anyone not dense can get some enjoyment out of any league. The BoyWonder wrote:All my idols are old, past it, or either retired. Re: What is happening to me?
Champion league playoffs is the only thing I watch, because it's a good team vs good team.
1. I hate how most teams play defensively and start attacking in the very last 10-20 minutes.
2. I hate how every league in the world is dominated by 2 or 3 teams. One of those team is made of money and has the most fans because they practical buy a new team every year and the other has less fan but is more traditional and raises most of it's players.
3. I hate how rich clubs monopolize all the good talent.

Re: What is happening to me?
Same here......I dont watch as many games as i used to. Now i barely follow Liverpool and Madrid and that sometimes bores me.
But next year has me kind of excited with all of the new signings Liverpool and Madrid could be making.
Other than that i really hope my interest in football doesn't fade.

Re: What is happening to me?
TBH watching dinho, zidane, ronaldo, RVN, Henry play were the greatest exciting soccer days of my life, i do highly agree tho, football is moving away from excitement and individual skills and more towards "professionalism".
Theres nothing wrong with that but at the same time, idk, really outside United, i dont watch much football, i used to watch barca, madrid, milan, lazio, Dourtmound play but really dont have much time as i grow older

Re: What is happening to me?
an era is coming to an end. a lot of football greats are heading towards the ends of their careers.
adp, raul, dinho, pirlo, nesta, beckham, henry, ljungberg, totti, ruud, buffon, zanetti, van der sar etc etc.
and there are many who have already left us. maldini zidane etc. evds of course just retired..
but you have to have faith in the young up and coming players.. i think, and this may just be my opinion, but i think we are in for a great period of football in the coming years, just look at the wealth in talent in the 22-23 age group.
so many stars between those ages now. it seems like every team has a stud thats 22-23. madrid practically only has 22 and 23 yearolds. they-23 and 22 year olds, not just specifically madrid-are sure to carry the load for the coming decade.

Re: What is happening to me?
With La Liga not being as competitive as it used to be, I'm a little less interested, at the same time, watching Barca is my love.
Also school is getting a little more restrictive...but anyway, I think I'm maintaining my love.
I think recently I've started to just get a little more bored of watching and a little more excited when playing, which isn't too bad tbh

Re: What is happening to me?
I absolutely adore it still. Actually somewhat surprised at how many have said that they don't like it as much as they used to. Can't see my interest in football fading.
What I also don't quite get is people reminiscing retired players as heroes who can't be equalled by today's footballers. Yeah, history has got a certain aura of excitement to it, but one shouldn't get blinded by it. After all, which of the past greats was really better than Messi? 'No one' would be my answer. The same could be asked about which club team was better than Barcelona today...
Scotch.

Re: What is happening to me?
Your probably just going through a transition period, or getting busy with life to a point where you can't follow football as much as you would like..
I was studying in Africa for like 3 years and that's when I was most into football because I had coverage of mad leagues out there.. Now I'm back in North America and I have to stream most games and stuff so I don't watch as much games as before but personally I still love the game the same way
Once Ronaldo started declining I didn't really lose interest because Madrid keeps me going... Hopefully I'll find my Ronaldo of the new generation

I feel the same, been watching football for 25 years this is the worst period I have ever seen. No outstanding teams bar barca, it's a game run by money were our most important player has the audacity to talk shite and try to move.

Watch Arsenal or Barcelona or THE BRAZILIAN LEAGUE.
They play the best football in the world.
