Re: How overrated are Madrid and Barcelona are on GoalLegacy
Barca is overrated by pretty much everyone here. Now before anyone gets all defensive, I admit they are an awesome side. Im not a barca hater at all. They are one of the Top 5 sides ever (at best), but calling them the best side ever is pushing it.
Real Madrid are only overrated by Madrid supporters.

Provide 3 posters who have said that Real Madrid is equal to, or greater than, Barcelona. I'd like to see the quotes, as well.

The point is you guys base your opinion on how RM played against Barcelona. it's not like Manchester United did any better than Real Madrid against them.
That's not what I did, in fact I just said it was foolish to base a team over one game against a certain team, it's idiotic. Manchester United reached the CL final and fought bravely against one of the best teams of our generation. They came back and won the EPL with heavy competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Man City. Will no one admit that like Barca are one of the best teams of our generation, so is Man. Utd?

because we seem to beat everyone else that is not Barca out there, we thrashed Spurs, Milan, Lyon, Ajax and everyother team that came in our way, in the last 15 or so months we have only lost to Barca in the Champions League, we manage to beat everyone else, and we are the ones who are actually pretty damn close to beating Barca, honestly i hope we get a bigger team in the next round of the Champions League to put all you haters in your place....
You do realize that Man. Utd have been doing the same? This years CL group was the odd exception

Barcelona are not over-rated but Madrid are heavily over-rated on this forum, few weeks back you have some ignorant Madrid fans who were already claiming Madrid are ontop of top teams like Bayern and even gone as far as Barca.
But then they got humble, the morons among them still think they are as good as Barca but the biased one's understand Barca are above them, but there are still quite lots of them who are still deluded about Madrid better than Bayern. u Wait until we meet in Quarter Final to knock them out early in CPL so as to stop this madness.

You will get Bayern and we'll see about that, who knocked you out in 2010 Lyon and who humiliated them afterwards. you haven't played top teams yet in cpl knock out stages, you remember what Liverpool did to you and what Bayern did to you before that and what a good Lyon side did to you. You haven't played good teams like Bayern and Manchester United last season.
It's funny when you look at the teams Madrid knocked out to get to Semi final last season, a Broken Lyon and Inexperienced Tottenham. What a joke

Point 1...
If Madrid trashed Milan, then in comparison, Barca must have mass murdered Madrid then =/
Point 2...
Inter(and some other teams) actually defeated Barca, Arsenal was doing so well until that dubious red and many others came close to beat Barca.
As to not derail this thread...
Definitely overrated by their own fans, but rated quite right by the neutrals... To be fair, if you are not overrating the team you support, no matter how bad your team currently is, you can't be called a fan can you?

Hey same logic can be applied for Bayern too..The second leg match between Inter, Bayern had 2 clear advantages: playing in home and 1 away goal, yet they still managed to bend over to Inter Not to mention how broken Inter was back then huh? No team in this world was as broken as Bayern last season, just thought I should let you know that.
The Manager had a fight with everyone, players, fans, the Bosses and Media. The Board calling meetings here and there, sacking coaches, selling players, not signing any player.
If it wasn't for Mario Gomez, Bayern will be playing in Uefa Cup not because we're not a top team but because they Manager broke the team apart.
Say for example Gustavo and Tymo were our CB and Pranjic and Ottl Defensive midfielder, Gustavo and Pranic playing as Leftback, Schweinsteiger was playing as AM and the worst of them all Kraft was our goal keeper, Sold the Captain of the team in the middle of the season, Toni Kroos playing as DM.
We're a different team now in every ways, even before then we had a great team because we got to final a season before that but the Manager messed up everything even worst than what Banitez did to Inter, far worst. Also most of our player were also injured and fatigue after a long season followed by world cup

the thing is no one said madrid were great before 2010.. this is the good thing about mourinho, he transforms teams ver fast.. inter milan for eg..same with madrid. .one second we were losing to lyon , next season convincing win and this season even thrashing them? now, lyon are not a great side but you can still see the difference
oh and beating barca in the copa final does merit respect especially the fact that the same barcafirst 11 beat united 3-1 a month later
currently barca are the best in the world easily and not overrated.. madrid and bayern compete for second spot.. united are certainly not second from their performances this season.

I don't understand the need to prove one is 2nd, one is 3rd and one is 20th in the world
History for the most part doesn't remember the losers. Did anyone come and say Barca are 1st when Inter won 2 years ago? Nope Inter became the best and proved it on the field. [The "if's" won't change anything]
Just stop the nonsense lol!
Personally I hope we'll be able to face tougher teams this time around as it is that place where you prove yourself. I'm mostly looking forward to Munich as that always sets out to be a great match. Would have also wanted ya'nited but we all know what happened there.

Re: How overrated are Madrid and Barcelona are on GoalLegacy
how are madrid overrated.. all of us say we are not as good as barca currently
so many neutrals refer to real and barca aas the teams to beat etc, and compare other teams to their level.. they are not all madrid fans.. and what united did last year doesnt matter, theres already been a new season with over 25 games played by each side in all competitions at least.. and based on that madrid have to be top three with bayern and barca as first.. united have failed to live up to their form in the cl arguably the toughest competition in europe where they got the easiest group..

Re: How overrated are Madrid and Barcelona are on GoalLegacy
Tbf, Madrid have the right to be called overrated.
The fact is this is only the middle of the season and yet lots of Madrid fans are already placing their club in the second place behind Barcelona in Europe. For example, recall the "tier 0 tier 1" thread!!
Which top clubs have they beaten in the knockout phase in the last 3 years and yet they are considered second best club behind Barcelona in Europe?
Only one - Lyon. Unless you want to call Tottenham a top club then in that case only two!
In fact Madrid were horribly beaten 5 - 0 on aggregate by Liverpool in 08/09 and did NOT even qualify for the last 16 in 09/10!
EDIT: Ok Madrid did qualify but were beaten by Lyon in the last 16. So what? Still a bad record over the last 3 years
Not a bright record over the last 3 years.
So please for the sake of your own club image be humble.
I wouldn't mind calling Madrid the second best club in the world if they are eliminated in the final next year but until then shut your traps!

Lyon 2009-10 the one Bayern knocked out was a top team.
But Lyon 2010-11 are no top teams, just thought I should point that out.

thats just the point.. 2009 or 2010 is a long time away..no ones calling madrid great then.... on the basis of this season and last madrid fans are calling their team top 3..
eg mario gomez till 2010 was a j oke at bayern.. now he is one of the best strikers.. if i use the same logic to say torres> gomez because he was better in 09 and 010 it wont be valid will it?

Your direct analogy taken from comparing two strikers to compare two clubs is absolutely ridiculous.

So that means most things there applied to Madrid but everything there applied to Bayern.
If you can figure that out, so what's the point of mentioning Madrid when clearly everything there did not apply to them
