as a big time Tolkeinite and LOTR fan, I cannot help but say "God bless you Peter Jackson"

everything this guy does is of perfect mastery. People said making LOTR into a movie wouldn't be possible and middle earth couldn't come to life yet he made it possible.

This movie is not out yet but I have the feeling it will sweep awards again like its predecessors.....

and the song the dwarfs sing in the trailer Oh just makes me wish December 14 2012 is tomorrow....

Sounds like someone dosen't know what Tintin is........

Take a read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Tintin

I read the Hobbit....it was a fantastic book...albeit, when i read it the language was confusing....but I enjoyed Tintin more.

Tintin has more talent behind it.....Speilberg is directing......

All the Hobbit has is a bigger budget :coffee:

P.S.- How did you come to the conclusion tat I'm a Twilight fan?

Honestly, some of Spielberg's movies, even if commercially successful, were not "good" movies. There is an entire subculture of people who think he is over-glorified and lacks artistic depth, but I don't know of any such group for Peter Jackson. I actually like most of his movies and I try not to over-analyze, but nothing he's ever done has done for me what the LotR did.

Normally I wouldn't argue against Jackson......but Spielberg is on a whole different level.

LOTR was an accomplishment no doubt......but in now way perfect.Set Design and Special effects were brilliant at the time but overall story, pacing and momentum were average.I place it in the same Category as Avatar.....sure it's a great directoral achievement.......but the movie itself was not as good as it seemed.

Spielberg some forget has done the same.....twice.With Jaws and Jurassic park later on......Speilberg created masterpieces which would chart the course of cinema for years to come. Both Jaws and Jurassic Park are equally great directoral achievements as LOTR and Avatar.

I think in most of Jackson's movies he loses the sense of the human condition that makes Speilberg great.I mean........he's fantastic, don't get me wrong.........but there are alot of flaws in his process.

It really comes down to preference I guess.......for me Catch me if you can . ET and Schinler's list are all better movies than anything Jackson has produced thus far...........stylistically I have no hesitation in saying that Jackson is more talented......but for me that dosen't constitute calling him better.

On topic: I hope Jackson dosen't lock out Gulmero del Toro, since he's a known perfectionist.............Guilmero del toro is the most artistically talented director living today...........So if he is alloweed to exert considerable influence this movie may stand a chance.

2 movies? Goddamn.

The good:
Exquisite detail to everything. Orgasm scenery of New Zealand Middle Earth. Gives it an epic pace.

The bad:
Holy frack, we have to wait an extra year to see it all?!

If I could read only one book in my life that would be the Silmarilion.
Shows the vastness of Tolkien’s imagination of which the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings is only a small part.

From a literature point of view though, both LotR and Hobbit will be considered more important readings
