Re: THE HOBBIT
Looking forward to the edited version of three movies combined into two. It could have been as good as LOTR if the studio did not force Jackson to make three movies instead of two.

Re: THE HOBBIT
ffs rg you not read the books, It was obvious from day 1 that Thorin, Fili and Kili were dead meat.
Do you know its actually Beorn ( The bear guy ) who kills Bolg and Azog doesnt die in this battle but Thorin does! Azog dies 400 years later and he's killed by Dain ( The guy in the movie who comes on a pig to help Thorin against the eleves) while defending wounded Brand ( Grandson of Bard the bowman) !!!!!
Also Tauriel is fictional, Only exists in movies to give a bollywood touch!

Re: THE HOBBIT
Seen the battle of the 5 armies a couple of days ago. It was okay, just not as good as i expected. I went through the thread and i agree that making in a triology was not the best idea. Compared to LOTR the hobbit movies are meh, something between 6.5 and 7, and did i tell you how much i hated the CGI? Very childish to say the least..

You got it mixed up. Dain kills Azog years before the events of The Hobbit.
There are obviously some cut scenes which will be on the extended edition. In the Comic Con trailer there was a shot of Bilbo standing in front of three tombs which is obviously Thorin, Fili and Kili. Was pissed they did not include a scene of Thorin being buried with his sword and the Arkenstone. Instead we got a useless character Alfred hogging screen time. And I hated how minor Beorn's role was in the trilogy. At least we got my favorite Beorn scene is the extended version of Desolation Of Smaug.
And they only ever showed what happened to Bilbo. Bard becomes King Of Dale and Dain becomes the King under the Mountain.
Overall I actually really liked the movie. Acting and music was amazing.

Re: THE HOBBIT
So, that 'Smaug vs some other dragon' thread reminded me that I hadn't seen the last Hobbit movie yet. Watched it. Oh boy, was it utter shite. Basically two hours of non-stop fighting. My favorite thing about it the fact that 12 dwarfs coming out of their fortress to join the battle of thousands changed the course of the battle. An insanely bad movie.

Re: THE HOBBIT
I've read the books (even Silmarillion in my teenage fantasy book boom years, which was a bit much though lol), but I don't mind filmmakers changing things in their films. The problem is that they had changed everything to crap in that final movie. The first two movies I quite enjoyed, they were adventure movies with an actual adventure feel to them, but this third one was an adventure movie without any adventure. Just two hours of sword-rattling with a pointless side plot of Thorin going crazy before coming round again. Geez.

Re: THE HOBBIT
Best part of all three movies was Martin Freeman's Bilbo. Perfect casting and was a much better protagonist than Frodo (like the books).

Re: THE HOBBIT
Thought Bilbo was a main character. Was so disappointed. Shit film... wrong focus on the story... Smaug being built up for 3 hours and then being buried after 5 minutes in best wwe fashion.

Well, there wasn't that much you could do with Smaug. Either he got killed pretty soon or then he would have killed everyone.

Re: THE HOBBIT
Well Peter Jackson wanted 2 movies...An Unexpected Journey and There And Back Again. This is a prime example of how quality got sacrificed for money. I genuinely believe it could have been as good as the LOTR films if they made two movies only. Indeed, some maniacs on Reddit edited the three films to one four hour movie and reviews have been tremendous. Might watch it in the summer. The Hobbit is one of my favorite books of all time and the movies did not do it justice unlike LOTR.
