plenty of old MMA fighters still fighting at a top lvl, but yeah..they are legends of the sport lol. Not relative newcomers. I think he will fight agian in MMA, but in Bellator.

Lesnar tapped faster than Punk did in his UFC debut :coffee:

They could have picked a much easier opponent for Punk. Even though Gall is a newcomer as well, he's a BJJ brown belt Laughing

Grappling is more effective than striking, they could have picked a true scrub if they wanted to

I was thinking about this, also it seems like to me as well quality as the training Punk was they tried to focus on getting up as many areas as possible.

What they should have done is focus on one particular area and gameplan around that, still probably would have lost but would have gave him a better chance i suppose.

Yeah should have accepted that he's gonna get raped on the ground against BJJ experts, and given him as solid a stand up game as possible. Plenty of UFC fights where the stand up is shoddy compared to the ground game. He'd have been better albeit still screwed going with that.

the way he threw his opening punch was comical in technique

PPV card projected to do very good numbers though, I expect CM Punk to fight again, maybe for Bellator (think prime TNA, funnily enough Lashley fights there) and some nobody amateur they pull off the streets..which was basically what Gall was lol.

Its kind of a joke the McGregor did not defend his title ONCE in almost 9 months.

Then again he is owed this because he was supposed to fight for the lightweight championship and then Dos Anjos got injured.

Yeah, Conor should be able to beat Eddie. A very winnable fight for him. Lucky that he's getting Alvarez and not Nurmagomedov.

Including against Pettis and Dos Anjos, not saying McGregor won't win but it's foolish to rule Alvarez again.

I'm not counting him out at all. He's a solid fighter and he can probably beat just about anyone. He's beatable though. I still really like the Chandler/Alvarez fights tbh. Great fights. Nurmagomedov is just a freak and healthy he would beat anyone in the division (including Conor).

I think McGregor is the favourite to win the fight though. He's a bit better mover, faster with more power. As long as he goes in and respects Eddie he should win that fight comfortably.

Alvarez is probably the best ( or at least one of them) at cutting off the cage and not allowing people to keep him on the cage.

Mainly because of who he trains with, but he's fantastic at that sort of thing. Fair enough on the rest of it though.

Don't need to work your way through a division if you can already compete at the summit.

don't really care about him not earning a shot I mean Bisping is going to fight Henderson and defend his title which is 10x more of a mockery, fan interest is all they need to justify things nowadays, it's entertainment for me, occupies this weird ground between Sports/Entertainment.

You're not a real champion if you don't work your way up. You have to make a name for yourself in that division ffs. It's like a second division team beating the champion's of the first division in a one off, then saying they're the champion's of the first division. That doesn't count Laughing

@firenze Conor is worse, at least Henderson actually competed at MW before. Besides, only an idiot would consider him a champion if he wins. He's ranked 12th or some shit :facepalm:

Don't understand that Swag really, if say for example Floyd fought at a higher weight class would you say he should fight some lower ranked scrub lol?

My issue is that he hasn't defended Featherweight belt, if he's going to fight for this belt he should have to vacate the Featherweight belt imo.

He doesn't have to fight a scrub, he can fight Alvarez but don't make it a championship fight. Conor is just stat padding his legacy, if he wins we will never hear the end of it. He will probably go back to featherweight, and call himself the real LW champion for the rest of his life. Or even worse, retire for Hollywood and call himself the real FW and LW champion.
