I would never take Busquet over Martinez. I guess Busquet's constant diving makes me underrate him, but dont blame me, he plays like a little bitch. Xavi > Xabi is very debatable. I prefer Xabi, but I cant say one is better than the other because they are so vastly different, yet so unique. Cesc is obviously better than Ander, thts not even a question.

But what did you think of the Basque attack compared to the Catalans? I think thts where the Basque team edges it.

Hmm, I see some of the barca fans are kind of dismissing the basques a bit. First see Bilbao vs Barca

Sure Barca isn't fully compromised of of catalans and bilbao doesn't have all current best basque players but it gives you a fair idea of who's better.

Its not the midfield that would edge you out and you should know that already

It'll be a close one and would be one nice match I guess.

Now since I'm seeing this hasn't turned to a sour conversation can someone maybe put out a castilian XI. It may not be strong all round but it would be great to put it out

Amorebieta plays for Venezuela... Its a good team sure, I just think the Catalans are slightly better. No matter what this Lord of Lords says... a game is won in the midfield and Xavi, Busi and Cesc is just an incredible midfield.

It would be a wonderful game for sure though.

Anyway I really like the Basque team and Xabi Alonso slots in very nicely.......everything looks pretty strong.....

A combined eleven between La Real and Athletic? That would be a pretty tough team to best. Especially if you were playing in their stadium. (Anoeta or San Mames)

my completely unbias opinion? I have to give it to basque. While not on barca's level barca without some of its key players such as Messi,villa, pedro, alves cannot beat athletico bilbao with now Xabi in their team. Yes its unbias as I would even chose them over a current all Madrid( or what the area is called) 11.

Why are the Catalans SO SURE that they would beat us Euskadi considering historically they have only beaten us ONCE. And that was through the most controversial face-off ever with the Euskadi getting 2 goals disallowed for no reason while the Catala had one offside goal and a questionable penalty.

Btw, Amorbieta has played 3 games for us.

Every discerning Spaniard knows how much trouble the Euskadi give the Catalans whether for club or regional team as the Catalans and Cruyff, gratacos and Alonso all stated how much they hate playing against them simply cause the Catalans don't play anywhere near the dominance they do when facing us as its quite the opposite.

Plus, do I have to mention the other famous results in which humiliated COUNTLESS strong national teams?

Coming back down to earth, Catalans have the edge in this era but playing against the Euskadi is by no means a cakewalk like the ones above have stated.

I like this discussion as the catalans and Euskadi are like brothers.

Fact is, both teams and youth are DEFINITELY better then the Castillo outfit.

Amorebieta can still play for Basque country even though he plays for Venezuela.

Basque country automatically wins, because a midfield consisting of Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso is enough sex to impregnate your unborn daughters with supermen seed.

Xavi, Busquets and Cesc forms a very dangerous midfield to be honest.

Where the Catalans lose out is in the forwards department.

Still, it will be an extremely tight match and Arq, I would also like to point out that Fabregas and Busquets have burst onto the scene now and it will be difficult for Basque to dominate games with the teams they have now.

Iniesta already made his debut for catalonia NT, i'm sure he will choose Catalonia for useless madrid!

I think it would be a great game. People are not looking at this in the right way though.

IMO, the Catalans have a better defense and a better midfield by a very wide margin. Any coach or scout will tell you the spine of your team is the most important aspect of how you play and ultimatley how successful you will be as there are countless examples.

The Catalans spine is just world class with Valdes, Pique, Puyol, xavi busquets, and then it falls off with Bojan but you could throw Cesc up there if you wanted to in a false nine.

The game could go either way and would be great to watch but please people there really is no argument about who has a better midfield. The basques have a great midfield but there going up against a monster who's achievements are unmatched.

The same can be said about the defense as well with Puyol and Pique at the center, it really doesn't get any better then that.

Last 2 times they played they've drawn and Basque were still the better team with a watered down squad.

Basque > Catalonia imo. Basque has the better keeper, forward. that and the catalans never played convincingly against euskadi.

^also iniesta only played for catalonia once and that was back in 2004. hasn't returned since (catalonia had 5-8 matches since then?).

I'm liking the Basque XI quite a bit more than the Catalonia XI. The midfield/forward set up looks like it has more potential to be a potent force than Catalonia despite having a rather world class midfield in their ranks. The Castillian XI looks decent but would probably get man handled by the Basques as well...
