How good was Eljero yesterday
I know there's already a topic on Elia, but as I want my needs satisfied, I decided to make a thread on it,
I missed the second half due to work but from the highlights and what I read I heard he made an assist for Marchisio's goal....
but how was his impact in the game when he came on? like was he an improvement from the Catania game?
I need my needs met
p.s: I always knew he didn't need to cut his hair, now with his mohawk back...... reteeeee
Pepe f**ker better watch out.....

well he did pass it to Marchisio, but Marchisio the genius did the rest.I can only say there is a top competition for that spot...

Re: How good was Eljero yesterday
Grew into the game more and more the longer he was on (as expected of a player)
should have scored a goal, was sent in on goal by Alex (I believe it was Del Piero who sent him in with a nice through ball) but he decided to try and chip the keeper and did not pull it off.
He was also applauded by the fans when Juventus lost the ball and he sprinted back and won it, not allowing Bologna to leave their half.
He provided a nice assist to Marchisio, passing the ball between the defender's legs and he also almost provided an assist for Del Piero if not for a goalline clearance.
His performance definitely merits more and it is clear that due to his good play he is now fluent in Italian which is good (rofl)

Well put, friend
Elia was the best winger in this match - Giaccherini is a winger too but played in a more central position which allowed him to get more scoring opportunities. Giach really showed great efford to remain Conte's first choice (i heard Conte praised him as "Giaccherinho" after the game too, meaning he would be more popular and even considered a star if he'd been from say Brazil) On topic; Elia was superb! Really great dribbling skills and desire to prove his worth - Elia doesn't seem to give up on his spot without a fight!

Re: How good was Eljero yesterday
Decent performance with positive signs.
He tried to be his usual flashy self, and a few of his tricks didnt work but that didnt stop him from slowly improving as the game went one. The effort was there, and you could see he really wanted to make an impact. He was rewarded with a sublime assist to Marchisio.
I think this performance merits that he gets more consistent substitute appearances, but not a starting spot YET. He is still in a fragile developmental state, and I think a similar method that introduced Esti to the team should be used.

<--- Conte
@Devi:
Yeah.. I think Giaccherini won a couple of stars in Contes book.. I have mixed feelings about Giaccherini though.. Hard to say if i really believe in him or not

Yup. Taking the ball behind his left foot and passing himself far between the two defenders. great trick..

I was skeptical about Giaccherini playing in a more central role but he really pulled it off
I know I am going to be neg repped for saying this but I really enjoyed a Pepe-less Juventus, so many more possibilities shown

True we played really well without Pepe, but you can say the same thing about Pirlo and Vidal as well

Re: How good was Eljero yesterday
Yes, yesterday Pepe's ferocious back tracking was not really needed.
First of all, Juventus lived in Bologna's half, second of all Sorensen was the right back and rarely moved forward.

I know right? His end product was just as bad, him tracking back was useless nonetheless, he lost the ball countless times.
As for taking Pepe's place as a whole, both Esti and Elia tracked back and unlike Giahc, they actually won the ball many times. At one point, Elia won the ball back in midfield and the crowd chanted 'ole', never has Pepe gone that sort of reaction when he's won a ball back, why well because he hardly gets the job done.
