Cloud Gaming
Anyone tried? Anyone heard?
Basically idea is that you can play any game with literally any device (Mac, PC, TV, Tablet, Phone, etc) not having hi tech technology (console, pc). Game is transmitted via client online.
Maybe in future (few years), this will be mainstream. Death of computers and consoles?

Re: Cloud Gaming
bro as a computer engineering student cloud is the future
everything put in one place, pick it up anywhere anytime
thats the way your files or games for that matter should be handled
if you can build cloud gaming systems then we can kiss CDs, HDDs and big clunky boxes good bye. Honestly all you need is a drive to store saved games and licenses for a game. If we remove CDs it would be difficult to play a pirated game. Ofcourse CDs can never go away as not all of us have internet or wifi all the time. so you will always have the alternative of playing a game on a cd or just storing it on a HDD.
Cloud gaming is going to put businesses like gamestop/EB Games out of business.

you would still have to, because for the game to be played on a system your system should have the proper requirements.
it will turn gaming into a PC like world where you would have to upgrade your CPU, GPU and RAM every so often

Re: Cloud Gaming
The actual game is being run on a computer via the Internet - not on your iPhone. Your iPhone's only task is to connect to that computer through the Internet and receive the live video of the game being run on that computer.Swagg_Johnson wrote:I don't get it.. In other words, the computer is doing all the hard work on processing and running the game. The actual game data is located on that computer. Your iPhone just gets the video of that processing sent to it and you as a user send the input - the controls - back to the computer.

Re: Cloud Gaming
I tried it like half a year ago with some demos and wasn't impressed. It was lagging. Perhaps they've optimized it now.Grande_Milano wrote:http://www.onlive.co.uk/

Oh ok I c.. So it would be just like watching a high quality video huh
But what about the controls? There are no triggers buttons on phones.. Or would the phone just be a display vector while you have a controller like the one in the video linked to it?

Re: Cloud Gaming
That's up to the developers to find out, I guess. But if cloud-gaming became popular I'm sure they'd start making actual controls and perhaps make controllers/joysticks available for phones. I imagine something like hooking up your phone to the TV screen via HDMI and then the joystick via USB.Swagg_Johnson wrote:Senor Penguin wrote:The actual game is being run on a computer via the Internet - not on your iPhone. It could spell the end of gaming for Maldivians. The net connection is extremely slow..
