I used to think that the rankings were heavily biased towards defenders, but it seems to be more about clinical finshing. Ronaldo loses a lot of points by taking 3 million shots off target every game.

Gomez gets a lot of points for scoring with every chance he gets, as well as providing a respectable amount of assists, same goes for Benzema as well, I still remember his goal for Lyon against us in one of the UCL group stages, the balance and poise were standing ovation worthy,

Cristiano Ronaldo has never for me been a top player...he is nothing special in my opinion. With Manchester United he had a 7% free-kick scoring percentage and I doubt it has gotten any better with Real Madrid. He leeches off his teammates and honestly, in terms of who is more important in a squad, Mario Gomez beats him.

Mario Gomez > Cristiano Ronaldo. :coffee:

Actually how you rate players, do you have any facts? you just say what media says (biased opinions+popular names). but castrol calculates and analyzing everything every touch every move every playing minutes. maybe gomezor benzema are really doing something worthy in their playing minutes

The castrol rankings are arrived at by doing the following...

a) They award each player a Castrol Index score for every match based on their every touch of the ball on the pitch and assess whether it has a positive or negative impact on a team’s ability to score or concede a goal.

b) A key factor for all areas of performance in the Castrol Index is which zone on the pitch the action takes place. Players receive points for each successful pass they complete but the number of points awarded depends on which zones the ball is passed from and received in.

c) A player's Castrol Index match score out of 10 is then converted into a Castrol EDGE Rankings points total and weighted depending on the importance of that tournament.

d) Each month the player with the highest points total per 90 minutes over the last 12 months will top the Castrol EDGE Rankings and will officially be the best performing player.

Does anyone find any glaring flaws in this process?

as said above important and good passes, goals, touches, passes in big matches, importance of goal or assist to the team. of course they didnt make a perfect calculating system, but at least they do it by facts not just opinions

berbatov was great last season, he got points and stopped playing. so he doesnt lose points because he doesnt play. Higuain is 543 because last season he was injured and didnt play much. This season he is great but he can not get 100 points (playing 7-8 games) suddenly to be in top places. ranking works very slowly

I see where your coming from (last season his link up play with the team was not good) but this season he surely has been vital. Ronaldo's link up is much, much better. The only player we could put in the ronaldo role is Karim and trust me you don't want to do that. Not to mention he scores loads of goals, half karim or higuain would not even get close to. I haven't even mentioned the fact that he literally draws 2 or 3 players towards him which gives tons of space for kaka and co.

Billion your overrating castrol. You can't judge players off of it, simply because football is not american football. Where the crap is iniesta and xavi for instance? And they obviously place some points way higher then they should be.
