Jack Rodwell
What do you guys think about him as a player ?
Forget that we have 3 DM's or that we are getting him. Just a general opinion on How arsenal fans percieve him.
I was a huge fan when he broke in the Everton side. He was really a top top prospect, but then injuries hampered his progression and he did nothing of importance in the last year or so. But now i believe he is finally fulfilling his potential, and if he stays fit, he can claim his spot in England's midfield
He is a strong player, Two footed, Can shoot, Can defend, Good technique and a good lad xD

Re: Jack Rodwell
I always thought that we needed a player like Rodwell in our team - and as you said RG he is technically good , strong , can defend
BUT the main issue is that we already have tow great Dm's waiting for a little chance to prove themselves :S
so in short i like the dude i wish we could buy him

Re: Jack Rodwell
I like him and think he is still a big talent. What I believe he needs to do is leave Everton, because it's not an evironment where he can really thrive anymore. Moyes will instill fight and grit into him, but in my opinion he needs a bit of a helping hand to fulfill his talent.
Also, I think he needs to pin down a position. He's gone from centre back, to defenisve midfield to centre midfield and rather than develop in one area of his game, he's become a jack of all trades, master of none sort of player. I'm all for players beomcing more well-rounded, but I can't help but compare him to Alex Song; in that, Song's trying to become more than a defensive midfielder, but he clearly excels at the defensive side of the game and it's those skills that make him a good player.
I may be bias because I'm English, but I'd take him at Arsenal. At the same time, I'm an advocate for giving the home-grown kids at the club opportunities over imported talent, if you will.

Predominantly, he is a defensive midfielder but plays more of a box-to-box role at Everton.

Re: Jack Rodwell
Arsenal are becoming the younger version of city.
95% of their squad will be young DM's soon.
I like the guy but I feel he needs to improve more for the sake of his career.

DM, CM and CB. Good passer, can shoot from range strong in the challenge.
Played with Wilshere, Gibbs and Walcott in under 21's.

Re: Jack Rodwell
And will soon play with all three of them in the senior team, too.
As I said earlier, I want us to give Frimpong and Coquelin opportunities first before signing anyone else for the DM position. Hypothetically speaking, if Coquelin leaves the club like he supposedly wants to, then that may open up a spot for Rodwell. Key word being maybe.
There are, of course, further complications, such as Rodwell needing to play a lot of games which would eat into the playing time of the likes of Arteta, Ramsey and Wilshere. We really don't need another midfielder.
Incidentally, Wenger might think his future is as a defender and use him as a centre back. He does like his ball-playing defenders, after all.

Haven't you heard? We are switching formation to one with 3 DMs because 'our defense leaks too many goals'. Thats why we are going to renew the contracts of Deench and Le Coq and also sign M'Vila and Rodwell. Oh and bring back Denilson from loan. Wooohooo!
Seriously => I'd take him but I'd rather keep Frimpong and Coquelin..

Re: Jack Rodwell
I know he played against Spain. And Sweden, too (I did watch those games, after all). I meant he'll be playing in the senior team with Gibbs, Wilshere and Walcott one day, when they're all fit at one time.

Re: Jack Rodwell
I'm honestly unsure on Rodwell.
He was a great talent a couple of years ago, but he's faded away for me. He's taking huge strides back, but I want to see some more potential from him before we make a move for him. A couple performances don't do it for me, I want to see him play well consistently for 12-15 games.
As for any transfer to Arsenal, I think it would be really unfair if we disrupt his steady, yet returning potential and development by bringing him here. Wilshere, Rambo, Song, Arteta, Diaby, even Coquelin are ahead of him, and defensively we are good.

Re: Jack Rodwell
Putting Everton mockery aside, I really believe he is still living off of that goal vs United and Gerrard comparisons while his positional awareness is totally off the mark.
I think he'll probably go on to be as good as Huddlestone. Meaning a decent player, but not top class.

Re: Jack Rodwell
Myles Palmer - closely linked Arsenal journo - says that we are in talks with Everton regarding Jack Rodwell. He said this the other day.
The signing of Rodwell would probably spell the end of Diaby - they are quite similar - except Rodwell is actually fit most of the time.
I've never been a massive fan of Rodwell - and personally I think Diaby has more raw talent - but if we were to sign Rodwell for decent money I wouldn't mind.

Re: Jack Rodwell
He kinda stalled his development last year but this year, he pick it up nicely. Not the most gifted one as between Jones and him, I would take Jones, still he has bright future. No place for him though, even if we sell Diaby and Denilson, he wants 1st team which we could not provide now.
